WOW....I just want to express how much I HATE re-buy tournaments....I mean really if you suck that bad, you don't need to be playing poker. I watched 3 people on a table I was just on in a tournament re-buy and add on a total of 23 times between the 3. How stupid....They called and went all in with crap hands then bought back in.

So basically a $1.00 buy-in $1,500 guarantee tourney with 621 players has 1127 re-buys so far......You do the math....fWell hold up, its on break now and lets see after the 5 minutes how many more re-buys and add-ons we have.

Alright here is the update 1175 re-buys and 566 add-on's. Now the prize pool is $2191.28.

Sorry if this sounds like I'm just complaining because I got knocked out by some guy who was chasing a river card flush, and beat my trip Queens, and to add fuel to the fire he was one of the ones who bought back in 8+ times.....Not to mention the fact that I'm sick as hell, and running a major fever and am leaving for Orlando tommorow night......

think I might of bought in 23 times in a rebuy myself not combined. Daniel Negranu last year had to buy in around 15 times in the 1k rebuy, maybe you just dont understand it.

lol no I understand completley and don't get me wrong I've re-bought a few times before, just not more than once in a tournament. I figure if I didn't win and then tried agian and didn't make it then it wasn't worth it.

I just hate panseys that don't work for their chips and get ahead by double add-on's and rebuys when they suck to begin with!

the rule is you should be allowed to rebuy like 6 times to enter it.

buy in 1
add on right away 2
bust and rebuy twice 3&4
add on 1st break 5

that is 5 right there and that is only busting out once.

im willing to rebuy as much as it takes, and I dont mind the coinflips.....22 all in baby, AJ all in baby.

Qs9s monster in rebuy period!!!

edit: why the heck would you not double addon? thats just dumb to start at disadvantage.
1500 stack doubled up is 3000
3000 stack doubled up is 6000

There is a strategy to playing like that. They lose chips to the whole table and then keep doing it and eventually playing luck will win them all back and have a huge stack for the freezout part.

Your players sound like they were just idiots though.

serious advice - stop playing rebuys.

- not being willing to rebuy more than once puts you at a huge disadvantage compared with players who are willing to freely rebuy

- what the heck is 'working' for chips?

the strategy is....

you feel you are better then your table so any chips you give them now you will win back from them later. So you dont mind giving the chips to them because it builds up this crazy image and they pay you off later.

then your table breaks, you get moved to a nit table with no chips and it's suicide time. :)

(don't get me wrong, it's a reasonable strategy, I'm just invoking sod's law of poker)

most of the time table breaks dont happen that much in rebuys...

because

stacks are very very deep so people dont go out that fast after the rebuy period ends. I have played a lot of rebuys and it usually takes hours before tables start to break. You dont just get moved randomly, people have to start busting out before tables break.

give a good player 2-3 hours and he will get those chips back.

I'm not talking about after the rebuy period. If i was to sit at a 9 person table and go all in with 3k and lose, next hand, go all in with 3k and lose, next hand, go all in with 3k and lose. There will be other players going all in on the hands(maybe not all of them). Eventually ill win a hand and get like 10k and then shove again and get to like 30k and have a big stack to outplay people in the freezout part.

Let me go get a lnik to that article.

Thank you for understanding mischman.....Yes they were a bunch of idiots. They do throw their chips around and by luck and suckout they end up getting them back and getting ahead...way ahead..

And the reason why I said "working" for my chips, is that I play my hands and when I win I win, when I lose I lose, so I'm working for my chips. I'm not adding $3,000 when everybody else only has $1,500 to be ahead of them, then when I bust with my 2 7 on their pocket Aces I buy back in and add some more chips and have just as many as they do after they beat me......Do you understand now???? When peoplep play crappy cards and lose then buy back in and have just as may chips as the good players it sad.

I wish they had a limit to how many people can re-buy or something.

You can't go to the wsop and buy back in for another $10,000 or add on for $10,000 lol.....

The table I was on I know I'm a better player than the ones that had to buy back in, not to add to the fact that everytime I played one of them I beat them, and when they busted they bought back in and added on.......

I guess I'll just have to change my morals and strategy and start going all in and buying back and adding on every tournament.......lol

What everybody's trying to tell you, rebuy poker has a strategy all its own, and it basically is not about "working" for chips. Anyone not ready, willing, and able to spend at least $50 on a $5 rebuy tourney is at a huge disadvatage right out of the gate, and should go in aware of that fact. It's tailor made for LAG play, and people don't necessarily bet big with crappy hands because they're bad players, per se,, althoug there is a fair amount of that, too. The more chips you get in play at your table, the bigger the reward when you hit a huge pot. It's a calculated risk, to be sure, but it's a viable strategy for these types of tourneys, which definitely aren't everyones plate of cake.

I love re-buy tourneys because there is a lot of value in buying in low. The re-buys add up to a larger pay-off pool.

I limit myself in a re-buy to 4 maximum plus add-on and try not to use them at all if possible. The strategy for many bankrolled and experienced players is to chip build at the tables during the re-buy period. They don't care if they win or lose during the 1st 3 blinds, they are adding chips to the table. In the last blind before the add-on break they will either tighten up or luck out then have a nice chip stack advantage leading into the main tournament.

I love it when I get these guys at my table, I play super tight and aggressive, quite often I'll have a great stack before the main event begins and not have to re-buy once, just add-on and go! The suckouts will happen which is why I limit myself to 3 re-buys and 1 add-on. If your tight and great hands get busted over and over, QUIT! Your in a negative swing, forget about it. Only once did I manage to overcome the beating I got during re-buy and make the money. If the suckouts keep beating my premium hands I quit, easy as that.

70 to 80% of the time though I have either an average or huge stack at add-on break. Just be aware of the strategy and use it to YOUR advantage.

You should LOVE rebuy tourneys....the prize pools are bloated and the vast majority of the players have no clue how to execute 1st hour strategy.

If you'd like I can post an old strat guide I wrote specifically for rebuys that I'm certain would open your eyes on how to approach them.

I would be interested in seeing that article!

But I do have to agree with Crummy about hating re-buys! I worked hard to double my chip stack just to be taken out by somebody who fell extremely lucky on the turn and the river.
