My first live tourney I played terrible poker, but I had a blast. I played way too scared and way too tight and eventually blinded out. At least you didn't blind out! I actually got my one and only ever (live or online) royal flush during that tournament. LOL, and boy did my "talent" waste that as well!
I also remember my next live tourney. I min raised with pocket aces. Min raised. I had also missed somehow that two players had limped ahead of me, not just one. And I min raised. Min raised. The flop gave 6-7 suited two pair and I was sent home.
I agree that online is a different game. And the buyin is a lot cheaper, too! But live... ah, nothing compares with it.
Great post, BTW, and thanks for sparking some good poker memories! Keep at it, your game will improve. I'm thinking mine has (it must have, right?), but I'm going to Vegas next month to play live for the first time in many, many years, so we'll see how it goes. Maybe I'm still just as bad as ever! But either way, it will be fun!
