How Did You Learn to Play Poker ?

I am self taught. After playing once and loosing my butt off, I decided to become the best I can. It's been years since and I am still improving everyday.

I was first introduced to playing Texas Hold'em from my cousin and from there the interest grew to where now I buy a book every few months to keep trying to improve

Learn all the basic math. odds to hit flush draws, straight draws, sets etc.
If you're playing online make sure you get either pokertracker or hold'em manager.
Analyze your game and plug your leaks.
Think about the game all the time and consider what your opponents are doing and how you can exploit that.
Sign up at a poker training site. There are a ton of them. My favorite is runitonce.
Get a poker coach.

I learnt from watching WPT and also my kids play with me. I still have to learn about the the poker terminology. My kids laugh at me when I make up my own words.

I learned from reading poker blogs, reading poker strategy posts on forums and watching youtube videos. The blogs have been the mostly helpful because articles are more in-depth.

My learning experiences came from watching the wsop live on ESPN (all the way back to the Moneymaker days) to learning on freerolls over at Hollywood Poker. It was tough in the beginning but learned and made the proper adjustments to my game. Still a ton to learn as poker and players are ever evolving

A friend of mine showed me texas poker for the first time and I started to play every day and learn a lot of from sites like cardschat.

Poker is a bottomless game and it takes a lifetime to comprehend its secrets! If you embarked on this path, then you will never retreat-a fact !!!

I learned the rules of the game from college friends. But i didnt really learn how to play until I started playing at Indian casinos in OK when I was 19. Playing as many hands as possible is the best way to learn. Trying different things and seeing what works in certain spots against certain players and what doesnt is the optimal learning experience imo

My grandfather taught me poker and chess when I was little. We would play 5 card draw and bet with chips and snacks.

I didn't really get into poker until about 11 years ago when my roommate at the time, who was big into poker, wanted to teach me Texas Hold 'Em. I didn't think I would get into it, but he talked me into playing and I enjoyed it.

I got hooked when I played my first free bar tournament and won it.

I begin to play with a friend of mine in a headsup. After i play with more people but the play was not the same, more bluff, calling often, raising to try to steal the pot and i realize that my play was not to good. So i begin to learn with Intelipoker and since my play is better. I have now to learn to be more patient.

I learned to play poker when I was spending the summer with friends and we had nothing else to do. We sat and played all day long.

it`s very interesting. because my first poker experience was on internet site, where I understand that my game is not so good. Then I learned the main things of basics game, When I realized my mistake I decided to start playing on freeroll. And I read several books about Poker. Now my game are better.

My Dad taught me and then playing with my friends after school for pennies. As I got older I started playing in cash games and then on to the online games. Now I only play online.

lol I remember I know the poker by my little brother and he teach me how to play it, then I started to play online in a page that ESPN haved to play poker. After that I played in pokerstars I learned more seeing the WSOP in ESPN. At first I play every hand lol...until I learned a little more watching videos and reading.
