How Did You Learn to Play Poker ?

I have read many poker books and strategy, but really informative for me were the different streams on youtube and on specialized websites

My uncle showed me online poker and taught me the basics of the game. I tried to find more and more information on game strategy, mathematics of poker and poker psychology. "Harrington on hold'em" book had a great influence on my skills - Dan Harrington explains the wisdom of the game in a very simple way. Also I would recommend Caro's book of tells for those who play live poker.
Once I asked my uncle: "What is the main secret of the game? How can I become an outstanding player?" "Experience, - he said, - it's all about your practice". So I think all of us are learning while playing. We become stronger with every game played

I was about 8 or 9 yrs old and would always watch my sisters husband and his friends play 5 card draw and other styles of poker like follow the Q and midnight baseball. One day I had enough money from shoveling sidewalks $5/house which in the mid 90s was a lot at that time especially for a young kid. Played with them for about an hr and they played single hands were a dollar buy-in and other games u might of had to pay for extra cards or wilds depending on what the dealer called. I really didnt start playing Texas Holdem til I was about 15 tho. But I walked away that day up $81 and was King of the World. Been hooked on gambling ever since. Funny thing my bro-in-laws friend didn't wanna let me quit because I didn't give the a chance to win their money back. Ahhh to be a kid again lol

I never learned to play poker yet like many other players. However, they think they know how to play.

I learned poker some years ago at my home, my sister invited some friends to play it and I was just watching and then they told me to sit there and play, and then they taught poker and I really liked the game

Find some friends or family to play with. It will help you mold your reading tells skills if you ever decide to enter live tournaments. Keep up the good work!

I learned from watching the wsop and developing a home cash game with change a few times a week. This quickly developed into tournament style games where we had sometimes 30 people at a time and ran some decent games.

I learned from just downloading pokerstars and Fulltilt Joining the freerolls and observed and watched and did good and dumb plays as I went

Nowadays I watch poker on twitch and play mostly online. The more you understand the game the more addicted you get!!

My dad taught me how to play texas holdem like 4 or 5 years ago, then I open an account on poker stars and learn the rest at poker stars school, it is a really good poker school and gives you many kind of techniques to improve your poker skills
