How did you get involved with poker?

Tell us your story, what prompted you to play poker?

Frankly i can't remember the exact event that got me started around 10 years ago in the university. At this time i played several times with friends from my high school a home game and i liked the experience. online poker was also becoming popular at this time in Bulgaria and it was still not regulated so there were plenty of poker rooms with freerolls available and i played occasionally for several months. At this time i had too much other things to do and i did not make any effort to improve my game. It was just pure fun. Finally after several months i stopped playing. I restarted around 6 months ago this time desiring to learn to play it correctly and despite it is slow the process is going and i see some small improvement.

I have allways played poker a little , all my life.
Back then it was draw poker, stud, 7 card high or low,
3 card low and then the craze of texas holdem that started
most of the on line poker sites. I started playing texas holdem
with a group of friends and from there online poker. It's a great
passtime and if your good at it you can make soom money.

I was playing blackjack and one night I was so drunk that I couldn't drive home. There was a poker tournament in 15 minutes so I bought in understanding the basics but didn't have any solid strategies in mind. With beginning lucks, I was the chip leader at my table until the fourth level of the tournament where I lost it all within a few hands. From there, I started playing a lot of live cash at that same casino but lost a shit ton of money.
Since September 2017,
I have been studying and reviewing the game more. I started to respect myself as a player and my results. And since, I have confidentally say I have been growing as a poker player.

My Dad and I would play 5 card draw when I was little. We would use pennies, nickels and dimes and of course he always won. Then back before black friday (three days before actually) I discovered pokerstars. Of course when it was banned in the states I was forced to get my poker kicks from the play money side of it.

I had no work and I had a lot of free time.
I tried to play on conventional chips and I really liked it.
After that I played half-year on conventional chips and after half a year I made my first deposit. Poker is a hobby for me that brings additional income.

I was watching poker TV shows on our local TV. That was really many years ago. For some reason i decided to try to play some poker too. Looks like i,m already playing it for some years(with breaks). Anyway, i think it was 2 different games. Right now poker is not the same thing, as it was 7-8 years ago.

My initial interest in Poker came from my exploration of the financial markets and a hidden desire to tap into the world of maths, statistics and probability.

It also helped to take my mind off a personal loss!

Very long ago about 15 years ago or more, I saw how people play poker but I did not understand the rules of the game, then I tried to play free chips and I started to win, then I started teaching materials for the game and I learned how to play, then I
registered in the poker room and began to play in freerolls and go to good tournaments and cash games and now I'm playing for real money and sometimes I get to win!

I was searching for an online game to be exciting and to have action and to have money! So I discovered poker! From the beginning I had the pleasure to discover cardschat community a little later. I play poker systematically and I see scaled results!

Yes, I do like to play games online,and with age I want more adult and serious games,and where is steeper poker - here and nerves,and the work of the mind,and the strategy and sober look at life! In my opinion, best option online fun!

My brother has been playing poker for a lot of time, earning his living.
I always kind of liked it and thought about it, though I never really thought I could be good enough.
But lately I've been trying to improve my game and take my chances at it.

First I'm was watching TV broadcast of some big poker tournaments, after play poker games in some social media platforms, and finally start playing in classic poker sites.

when i was 17 years old , i used to watch my father play online poker on poker stars. few times ive seen him win micro MTTs (1.10, 2.20, 3.30) 1st-3rd , that's when i was really interested in the game...but then again i couldn't play poker yet due to my age. when i turned 18 i made an account with PS right from there, my dad transferred $5 to me. Played in Sit&Gos ($0.50-$1) from there i really enjoyed playing poker.

Years ago I was on MSN's Game site where I usually play spades or hearts. I got tired of that and wanted to play something else. So I played poker. I thought to myself, I'm pretty good at this. That's when I went searching for a place to play poker online for money. The rest, as they say, is history. In short, I learned that I wasn't that good at poker and I had a lot to learn. Now that I've learned my lessons and became a better player, I have less money and time to play poker. Go figure.

They got me little by little, playing at age of 10 with brothers and freinds 5 card draw,
then years of not playing poker at all because I sucked, then my girlfriend told me I need a facebook account because everybody has one. There I found Zinga and was most of the time chipleader with my crown on top, but it was only all in ALL THE TIME. So I was looking for some more serious poker for free and found netbet. played there for years donking around and last september I decided to have a deeper look at poker, because all the time the same players were beating me. That couldn-t be luck!!! and see, it wasn"t.
Today I am beating most of them most of the time and I am looking forward to the rest of my pokerlife!!!

Played stud and draw growing up. When the Holdem craze hit the air waves my son watched a lot of it. We played at the table and found myself making a deposit on PS and FTP. Played a lot of cards as a kid, so it was something I was interested in.

I watched Professional Poker Tour and World Poker Tour on TV,so I tried playing online poker after that and that's how I started.

10 years ago or so. The bar I used to hang out at to drink and socialize, they would have "freeroll" tournaments where you could win house cash. So, I started playing and learning the game through the poker games the establishment used to host and the rest is history.

We visited Las Vegas a number of years ago. We happened to go on a walk and ventured through Caesar's Palace. We happened upon where players were exiting from an event. A man in a cowboy hat was signing autographs (Doyle Brunson) and I became curious. I started asking questions and doing some research and found out about the wsop. At the time I knew nothing about it. Due to my love for math and statistics, I became very interested. I bought books and CDs. I read and studied the game. I became a huge fan of Tlt Poker and PokerStars. I watched a number of shows on TV. I love the game and the challenges. I found that no matter what, I will always be a student of this awesome game! Came out to Vegas in 2003 on a road trip with a buddy. He was watching people play poker at the old Sahara. I thought it looked lame so I told him let’s go get drunk instead.


A few months later, Moneymaker’s ME run was on ESPN and poker seemed a lot more interesting on TV than it did in person. So I gave it a shot and have been hooked ever since.

I watched my dad play cards online and watched some WSOP coverage with him. I've always loved playing card games as a kid, so it was inevitable that I'd pick poker up eventually.
