I don't understand the check-call, check, bet. The bet on river was way too small anyways.

I'm confused as to what you are saying

Perhaps he didn't bet $4.80 to win .31. Perhaps he bet $4.80 to win $5.00. Say he has KJ and thinks you have either a set or air for whatever reason. He should always shove the river because you'll always call with sets and you're folding air to any sized bet. This isn't the greatest board for the huge overbet because you have lots of Ax hands in your range that would call a smaller bet but fold to the shove. But trust me when I say that just because he shoved into a pot of $.31 doesn't mean he didn'tknow what he's doing.

This could be a possible scenario.

He could of thought that you had a good hand. 2 pair or trips, and maybe he caught his out and wanted to extract maximum value from a super overbet.

or, he could of just been an idiot.
