I was 18 years old and it was a big game of poker I made money roofing with the people that lived next door and they were a wild bunch but me and my dad would have our weekend
poker games with them and they played games like follow the Queen match the pot and what ever card that comes after the Queen is wild and baseball and games like that for big money.
So that is the type of
poker game I cut my teeth in a game where I could win or lose 2,500 to 3,000 in a night at 18 years old just starting out and most times I won the 2,500 or 3,000 because I was playing aginst a bunch a bunch of drunk or high roofers. Then I graduted to the easier live poker rooms for 3-6 and 10-20 action at PLO or NLH action after those wild roofer game which made those wild roofer nights seem like a walk in the park and made it easier to play and win at live action casino games. By then I already had enough
hands in I knew what to play and what not to play to know what what +EV and what wasn't and have been making a killing torcking these roofers I just had to thighen my range a little against some of these casino pros and you know who they where by watching them play for about 15 to 30 minutes or so they were the displined people that folded most there hands out of position and played a select few in position and played those with extreme aggrestion. They won when they were in a hand most the time and the pots were big when they were in it because they knew how to build those pots. That's how I played as well. If I lose a pot off to the next one oh well I got ran down so be it there's another to be had on another hand don't let the bad beat get you down. Play on and play your A game every hand because the game will get you if you don't that's the way I was told and taught at the big game with the roofers and I've always played that way and you should always play that way anyway. I've been in tounerys before where I took massive beats for most my chips and came back and won them when it almost seem impossible to comeback from such a small stack but I did and won the whole thing because the way I think. I think that it is never over until your done. I have even cashed in a WPT Event played at Seminole Hardrock Tampa before with Scotty Nguyen at my table and you know how annoying he can be sometimes. He was actually fun to play with he told a bunch of poker stories and I made the money and I was happy then he busted me on a beat and he said sorry man and we shook hands before I went to collect my money it was cool. Not to often you get to sit with Scotty at the poker tables and hear his war stories. any way. Yes I was 18 when I started playing poker.
