Most casinos in argentina don´t have a single poker table. There is one in Puerto Madero in which LAPT tourneys are played though. Im hoping for more casinos to have such tourneys.

In Argentina poker it's not a popular sport, it's becoming famous but I think we only have a very few casinos with poker tables and a few tournament too. Also, LAPTs are played in a lot of latin american coountries, but not in Argentina, I mean, there are LAPT Peru, LAPT Panama, LAPT chile, etc, but not LAPT Argentina :p

if take it for real: in russia all live poker is prohibited. you can be even arrested if cops catch you at illegal game. i think it will be future trend for all countries: playing will be possible only at casinos, only at special places or towns, no live poker, no even homegames.

In Australia, poker is played in pubs and clubs on a regular basis, it brings people in to buy alcohol and play poker machines. Also the people running the poker leagues make money. There are opportunities to go into large tournaments that are run by these poker leagues. And on top of all that there are cash games at casinos. Its a mainstream past time

The American Daniel "jungleman12" Cates cut forced him to the world as it is prohibited, except in some recently legalized segregation in the online poker market in the United States. Cates is one of the best heads-up player in the world, with nearly $ 10 million profit built into online games, but also élőversenyeken összekártyázott 3.2 million dollars.

Hungary in 2012 was discovered by himself, spends every year since then in a few months. "Budapest is one of my favorite European city, I've been here many times, it's really nice. Relatively cheap too. I know a few people, a lot of entertainment, and of course the girls are also very beautiful. Do not really have to love what you do not. I really like the embankment. I've been to a few romkocsmában, sometimes I like to go there, though I'm not much of a party animal "

The online competition ranking third prize, the British Patrick "pleno1" Leonard is no longer just spend a shorter time period, but in Budapest. "In my opinion there is no better place for a poker in the USA. First, there is a very strong players featuring poker community. Everyone helps each other, no rinyálás, everyone looks the other as a friend. Community members are predominantly different game types, play poker, there is no rivalry in the negative sense. We make sure that we might live through colorful social life, a joint program organized many, many athletes together, and there is a deal: if you win 25 thousand dollars, you must call the company on a Tuesday dinner. It includes players on the team, as Jonathan Karamalikis, birs320, twirlpro Adam Picken and perhaps even quite a few lesser-known, but
very good player. There is always someone among us, who're running the cart, and we all sincerely happy about the success of others. "

We also hold some of the biggest tournaments worldwide... Aussie millions, ANZPT etc... Poker in Australia is booming, every casino has a poker room, the APL etc etc sends players all over the country.

I live in the same city as the largest live poker room in the southern hemisphere, but between work and family I almost never get the chance to go play there at the moment :p

So live poker in general is pretty healthy. Online poker exists in this weird sort of legal grey area though, and has done for over a decade. Technically companies aren't supposed to provide the service to us, but nobody's ever bothered to enforce that law as far as I can tell

Some info here, although I'm not sure if it's completely up to date:

https://www.cardschat.com/legal-poker-sites.php

There's no federal law against online poker, but I think it's illegal in the state of Washington.

In Texas, there's been a push to allow casinos in the major cities, but it will probably fail. We travel to surrounding states to play live, although home games are legal here as long as the "house" doesn't profit.

The nearest casino to me is 95 miles, although I used to play a home game that was 122 miles away- chance to visit friends monthly and play poker too.

In the Russian case, too, are not so. gambling, including poker are prohibited by law! Of course, there are fans who organize games at home or in basements. But that's another story.

Living in Iceland, poker is not exactly illeagal. With a total population of 320,000 living here, less than 2% play the game.
Cash games are not allowed but are played in the few clubs that survive. Tourneys on the other hand are accepted. We even have a national main event once a year.

We have only in the designated areas. But in general is prohibited. Although, the man who won the tournament brings money the country in which it lives. :)

Poker here is not popular. We play it through underground.

Majority here sees poker as gambling because of the chips being used just like in casinos.

In Holland it's really a declining market in my opinion, at least for the live part of poker.
It's not as big of a market anymore like it was 5 years ago..
There are still enough players playing online of course, but there are hardly any promotional events or what so ever.
Live events there are some, but not that many.

There are always rumors about this or that but online poker is just fine in my native country of Canada. Live games are also easily found there. In the country that I live in now (Thailand) online poker is also fine and hordes of online players (especially Americans) have moved here in part because of that. Live poker is a different story. Casinos are banned in this country. However, there are tons of casinos literally right across the border with Cambodia and other surrounding countries. Macau, China (the gambling capital of the world) is also only a short flight.

The United Kingdom seems to have complete freedom over where you can play, both live and online. With this in mind, I find poker to be very underwhelming there, even online. Scroll through a list of pokerstars tournaments and players from England/UK seem extremely under represented. I can't say it's surprising though, really. I don't have a family member, friend, friend of friends or acquaintance that shows any interest in it.

I'm in the United States now and we all know how it is here. I'm in Houston and as somebody else mentioned it's kind of funny how Texas Hold'Em is so difficult to play in it's namesake! Gambling and particularly poker seem to have more socially negative connotations than back home, too.

Here in Slovakia are some casinos where you can play poker legally. Online poker is completely legal too. Our laws about poker basically doesnt exist. it all counts as hazard games I believe. I believe that If you want to organize some poker tournament you have to have some license (same as casino owners). I dont know how many professional players are here, but it certainly is not even close to 20 000 :) And I think you dont have to pay taxes from winnings, but I am not sure about it cause I got 2 different answers from two tax advisors... : )
