I could count on the fingers of one hand how many times I have played `playchips` so forgive me if I`m missing something.
Can you win something with playchips???
Can't win a thing with them, at least not on UB and that's the only place I've ever played with playchips. I started there, they give you 1000 to start and I was too dumb to realize that they would just keep giving you 1000 if you ran out so I played like it was my only 1000.
About a month later I was in the millions, in the heyday of the playchip sales. The best place to go was the 1k/2k Omaha, it was just a pure luck thing because everyone would go in for 200,000 preflop. Sometimes go all in for millions preflop. I remember more than once having to dump chips just to keep my account under 21.4 million.
You used to earn actual points on UB for playing playchips, 1 point per hour. Not sure if that's true, I haven't played with them for awhile now. 250 pts = $1 for a tourney buyin.
The reason people bought them is to be "cool" and play at the highest level tables they had on there. Most of them were so bad that even with the 20 million they bought, they were out of chips in a week or two. I know of one person who ended up buying chips 4 times before he quit.
