Hey,
I recently started to play a little bit more poker again, and I realized that most of the loosing sessions are the unplanned "in-between-other-activities" sessions. Typically these sessions occur when I previously playd poker that day and I had an especially good or bad run.

What ways are there to close up a session and be done with it mentally until the next (scheduled) time...

any advice would be awesome :)

Being able to spot what you are doing wrong and how to improve your game is a good start. This is why it is important to do hand reviews and study your game. How did you come to realise that you are having bad sessions?

If you are tilting or find yourself making excessive mistakes then it would be a good time to take a break and collect yourself but I doubt this has anything to do with your previous sessions. Even if your previous hand was a bad beat, there is a saying the deck has no memory so there is no reason why this will effect the next hands.

You have heard the saying that if you keep playing well that in the long run you will succeed. This would mean that we need to play more and not less, which is what you seem to be aiming for. Instead you should work out why you are having the bad sessions and find a way to still play through them. Maybe you don't win a lot but at least try not to loose too much.

It is easy to make up fictitious reasons why things are not going our way. Try and answer the question, how could I have played that hand differently and you empower yourself to improve. Blaming external forces, like the weather for instance, may very well be the cause for your troubles but there isn't much you can do about it so why bother. In your case I would rather try and find ways to still play good sessions regardless, instead of looking for a way out.

Hope that makes sense...

What I do rather I have a good or bad session is to do another activity for a few hours and then study my hands later on.

Best answer is to simply find something else to occupy your time if you feel those sessions are run bad for you.

Do not need to share your sesii on "bad" and "good" just look at the result on the distance! if you think that individual games spoil your statistics, then you need to analyze these unsuccessful games, rather than abandon them
