I make enough to be able to cover those other recreational and miscellaneous small expenses in life (ie. movies, haircuts, clothes, knickknacks, etc.) but one day it'd be nice to be able to make a poker salary that makes paying for the buy-in to a wsop main event, a drop in the bucket.

Do any of you keep track of your average poker income per month? Has it afforded you to quit your 9 to 5 job or be close to it?

The couple of months that I played seriously to make an income was about $350 a month.

I was playing $5-1 table SnG's and doing about 6-10 a day.

Well for me it's different every month, but I'd say my average is somewhere in the $0-$499 range. I've made more, and I've lost more, but that's about my average.

Lately after discovering the lovely winrate that comes along with multitabling, I've been making about $300-$600 a month playing at the ~$20 and under buyin level. It's especially nice when work is running slow...like now :)

I win at the micros and hemorrhage it all on rebuy tourneys -- thanks a lot CC! Seriously, I'm more or less a break even player. Generally play well, but donk enough to be about even.

I play for a living and strive to make $3000.00 - $6000.00 a month . its very easy to do if you set limits and small goals for simple and easy gratification,

I love the game of poker. And so do many others. Playing to break even is a great way to have some fun and have gratification of winning and losing. I play for a living and set small goals for each day / session/ or tournament . I find it very hard to stay mentally able to play poker everyday for a living but its what i love to do and i do it well

I see you list Turning Stone in your signature. Which do you prefer live or online? I would guess that online is more profitable for you?

Actually i rarely ever play online . I'm only online for trying to find a community to help my game. I make about 6k a month playing live at TS . And im there 6-7 days a week. I play online but only put on a couple hundred spread out on two sites

Well, I'm up barely over $1k for the year, so that would be...approximately $142.85 per month. $800 of that was in January though. lol

between $500 and $999

last year i was doing better  but ive done well enough to clear any debts, get a new pc and put some by as well so i cant complain.

Although currently trying to play more tourneys as one bad session is a killer in cash - tourneys of course it equals just the buy-in.

I don't have the bankroll to play at levels to rank in this poll. And I've only been playing with real money for just over half a year. Only got interested in poker a year ago.

I'm just happy to have a hobby where I'm gaining money (even if slowly) rather than it costing me money.

Last year, I made about $200/month average for the yr. So far in 2007, I'm just treading water. I clear enough to pay my hih speed internet bill, and keep trying to not shrink my BR, although it keeps getting spread out more and more. I now have $ on 5 different sites, mostly because of CC and different leagues I play in.

I am currently between -500 and +500.

I some times have good runs where I turn $10 into a few hundred easy, then there the times I lose it all.

This is my exact situation, including the time I've been playing real money. I'm over 1.2k above right now, although lately on a pretty bad losing streak ( I was 1.5k above) that I can't seem to stop for a few reasons. Some bad beats that have killed me and some bad decisions that have hurt even worse. I probably need a break.

Funny how appearently we started playing at about the same time NL.

As far as where I think I can go with poker, I doubt that I'll ever make a steady income with it. It's mostly recreational for me and I really don't play many ring games, mostly tournies. Although there are exceptions to this, like Chuck for example, I think those who make a steady income are mostly cash game players.

My goal is to win a big MTT, don't know if it'll ever happen though. Also, I'd like to qualify on-line for some live tourney, doesn't matter which and not necessarily the WSOP ME. Actually, up until today, the ME probably represents the last one I'm interested in. I'm not sure yet because it depends on my BR, but I might try in the fall for the PS Caribbean adventure, although honestly I should give it another year before attempting something like that, as I don't think I'm ready to play that type of satellites yet.

Works out about $1000 for the last couple of years, but there's losing months (like June - down $700) and ridiculously good months (like May - up $4000). Also depends how much chance I get to play as my work has busier months where I get fewer evenings to play, cause I don't like to play tired or stressed.

In my planning it's 10k a year I aim for as a floor target with 20k as my goal. Anywhere in between I'm happy with.
