Heya everyone!
kinda interested to see the variety in players here, and just curious as to how much everyone spent before they turned their losses into profit?

I think I've been fairly lucky, I started with $500 and have turned that into $2k, but I lost $500 today so i'm down to $1500 and this seems to be my cycle at the moment, I'll win enough to go back to 2k, then down 500-1k then up to 2k again aha, lots of practice needed but it feels good playing solely with profits rather then my own cash, hopefully this current $1500 can turn into alot more!

Just wondering how much other people have spent before they turned a profit? Had a chat with a few lads at the casino and a few of them said they went through close to 40-50k over a few years before seeing profit.

I started with $10 and have turned it into $1,100 in 2010 on MPN poker network. To be more exact I spend nothing cause I went into the tourny via freeroll. But it was my first and thus far last big sucсess.

I just grind the micro stakes and made around $300 per year for about 6 years. Never lost but can't say I'm a big winner either. Free entertainment.

10 years now of online poker. never cost a cent. I have cashed about 3 thousand dollars worth of poker-site withdraw checks over the 10 year span. sad to say i have not made a withdraw in about 3 years, i guess my game is slipping:afraid: . In the early day's there were many freerolls to play and the players were less experienced. hundreds of forum sponsered & site sponsered freerolls made it easy to build a bankroll to play the cash games and if you were good & lucky enough, hit a lick at some site and then try to get some money. most of the times i made withdraw, i had to jump through a lotta hoop's. No poker-site wants to send a check to a non depositor. But after sending enough documentation, and some arm twisting , i was able to get about 6 to 8 checks over the years, some just a couple hundred, i think the largest was 600$ . I did make a 25$ minimum deposit at a poker-site, but that was when i already had a couple hundred i wanted to withdraw and no matter how much i twisted their arm i couldn't get them to give, so i made the deposit and then cashed out a couple weeks later.
I probably never will make a deposit at any on-line poker-site. The truth is I play for enjoyment, if i am not playing online poker, i am playing online Spade's, Euchre, Pinochle or Gin.

In my first year I lost a couple of 20 dollar deposits but thanks to free bankrolls I still managed to end ahead the first year. Other than that I've been in profit each year but not by any serious amounts!

I started by playing freerolls and bonuses. My first transaction was a withdraw.

I have yet to make real money, like a living.

I started with $100 about 2 years ago. Grew it over 3 grand. made $1700 in withdrawals. That was online. My life stats aren't as good. lost between 1-2 grand. not really sure how much my computer crashed at the time and I lost my records. Funny though everyone says that it is easier to win live than online.

I made one $50 deposit and turned it into several hundred thousand. The game and the industry in general isn't what it used to be though. Poker was making great headway as a legit industry, and now it just seems like it's a constant slide backwards into shady business practices, and thievery. Sigh.... sad to watch.

I started from freerolls at Merge network, but I had a lot of begginers luck. I won 10 USD from several 50 USD tournaments and played satelite for Sunday I think 20k gtd. I won ticket worth 60 USD and finished 7th on Sunday and won 700 USD. That was begginer luck but you need that for good poker carrer.
So you can start from 0 with some luck or you can spent a lot of money before you hit some big.

I'm ashamed of my alcoholic gambling history but I'm sober now and this year I've turned a $1 freeroll win on full flush into $38 and a $0.70 freeroll win on blackchip into $32. Just a few cheeseburgers but I'm proud of it. I put a lot of work into my game.

Thats easy question for me, cause I NEVER deposited my own money to any pokersite. I always played only with money which I won in freerolls :) And I think I am close to 2000 Euros which I withdrawed from all pokersites since I started, so Poker is nice hobby for me, they pay me to have fun :D

so wheres all the fish who keep the poker industry alive, not sure of true numbers but only a small percentage 5-10% may be less of people actually make money playing poker.

SO maybe all the ones who lose dont want to post here.

PS Im similar to most here started play money then freerolls then free $$$ for a hobby:)

Yes, but a pro starts making profit at a point. He can be on a $20K downswing, but be in profit overall for $100K. I think he means when did you start getting in the green overall.
