I just came up with a brilliant question - how many online players do you think are underage? How many of these players manage to make a deposit and play with real money? Why should we care? And do you think that being underage is a barrier to how successful a player can be?

I would not know but after watching players come forward on another poker forum,it seems like there are more than you would expect. Not sure if pokerstars has cleaned that up since, but some of the really good players ended up being like 15 years old when they jumped out of the pack.
Can not think of names off the top of my head but there has been some big names.

there is probably a lot. It could be a barrier if you agree with the law that says. age is just a legality issue in awarness of the inherant risk in gambling or playing poker. The law thinks that minors dont have the judgement yet to make reasonable financial desisions for themself according to what they have and the risk theyre taking, even though they might be talented at that particular game.

713, of which 37 will be winners when they reach legal age, of which 34 will have their accounts frozen.

I think enough of them around the world. I am against the barrier, not play to 18. If a person wants to play it is impossible to deny it to him because of age :)

To tell you the truth it is hard to estimate. My estimate is over a million players are underage. poker site don't even have a way to verify if a player is telling his true age. Even big site like facebook and google which is not a gambling site has that kind of problem.

There are many of those. Even on the forum I read a post from a player. His question was, how he legalize its registration at poker stars after adulthood. Then he wrote this post about the ending of this problem. He honestly told the site that he was 18 years old, and the management of the site forgave him. So he solved the problem. He had a winnings the money.

There are a lot of underage players, but everyone can do it, i've seen fathers that let there kids play real money poker using his name (pretending they are they're the father). So its pretty common.

Being underage probably affects their game because they are inmature (not all of them but a big part) so they take a lot of risks without thinking.

I am personally acquainted with two young online poker players, they play for cash tables on unibet. How can they bypassed the ID control I do not know, but they play well, although a little risky.

In today's game; if they manage to make any money they will not be able to withdraw it because the security is very tight on big sites.

So they are wasting their efforts trying to build a bankroll.

I think that a lot, because they create their accounts on the passport data of adult humans . For example, a friend or a brother.

Does not matter as long as the sites are practicing due diligence so that they can stay in compliance with the law.

I think there are many young player on line definitely a lot of immature players, hiding in obscurity on line, I have played on sites where players certainly act like children even if they are not, some of the things said would not happen in live games without serious problems
