.... and how are you faring?

To start, I play in some of the December and April wsop-C events and I play about two dozen regular nightly tournies throughout the year at Harrahs Cherokee.... it's part of my semi-retirement regimen.

I've done well in the regular tournies with a positive cash flow but have given it back in the wsop events I've played in. I have finished close to ITM at the wsop-c events twice, but no cigar.

Overall, just a bit to the negative side but if you count in the free comped rooms, free meals (card total rewards,) and the real good times with wife and/or friends, I count myself as a winner. Heck just seeing the gala of the largest attended/prizes WSOP-C April event at Cherokee is worth the price of admission.... it's a cool place to be!

I've asked this elsewhere but thought it appropos here as well... Anyways, how goes you? Good luck to you on the real felts. :ridinghor

I started playing live tournaments 5 times a year, then dropped to 4 and now for the past 2 years and probably long term I am down to 3 times a year.

I would have to go through my records and figure it up and have no motivation to do that because it wouldn't change anything.

I assume I am slightly ahead or close to break even - but the experiences, fun and enjoyment definitely put me way ahead. :)

I try and play 3 or 4 live sessions a year. I am within an hour of 2 decent size casinos. I like to play when on vacation also. I have played in Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Las Vegas, Laughlin, Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe was a WSOPC event which I made the final table. That was an amazing experience.

I usually get free rooms and get to spend the time with my wife and sometimes the kids and Grandkids.

Overall I would have to say I am in the RED, moneywise, and in the black enjoyment - wise.

The only live event that I've seen was a freeroll at my casino, the payout was only 250 though. The first buy in was free the re-buy was roughly 10 dollars each. We do have the Aussie millions here but I've never watched it live. I will some day though when I get the chance

Started playing live in 2009, mixed live and online thru May 2010. Started keeping detailed records of my live play in 2012.

2012 - 761h 37m
2013 - 861h 30m
2014 (so far) - 554h 22m

I am an overall winner combining cash and tournaments (+$16,400). Just tournaments I am down but that is all due to the handful of >$1000 tournaments that I have played.

Live Poker is the NUTS for +LV enjoyment, never really kept track but never really followed any form of brm either live or online until I got back involved at cc June of 2013.

Only played maybe 4 or 5 times live since then on vacations home, and overall was in the black on those but lifetime live am certainly in the red but am sure it will be back in the black one of these days as I have improved my game and focus and look forward to the day when I move back home and get back into playing live 3+ times a week (mix of cash and tournies).

I have played 5 live tourneys in my life. My first two were at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh a few years ago. Had no idea what I was doing and wound up nowhere near the money. Played a live tourney at Maryland Live last November and somehow finished in a six-way chop for first and won $1,200. Played a tourney in Cedar Rapids last December and flamed out early. Played a tourney in New Orleans in July and came very close to the money, but went out when my A-J couldn't beat a 10-10.

Overall I am up about $800 in my oh so few live tourney experiences. My goal is to get to Harrah's in April for the WSOP event. Wonder how the November so will do?

I play tons of live events. Only started messing around online as "practice" for live events.

Anyways...I make money in the small card rooms and tribal casinos....and then I give it all back when I go to WSOP every June....

there's always a bigger fish....

My stats are actually embarassing lately. I am in the red on my own play for the first time ever.....though I am up several thousand dollars in the $500 and under tourneys...but I've lost it all and then some by just playing a handfull of $1,500 tourneys...

however, I have a couple of really good playing partners and we trade action and so because of them I'm actually breaking even. They are solid winners hopefully they don't kick me out of the club any time soon... It hurts to admit but I guess I'm a losing player at $1,000+ events (well, my sample size is in the single digits....) But I'm a solid winner in $40-$500 tourneys...with a sample size of about 1,000 tourneys....

Yep - if I am break even or only slightly up it is really for the same reason. I try not to play too many tournies over $500 for this reason - not cashing takes a big chunk out of profits.

But there are always a few every year - and for both of us when we finally get that really nice cash in one of those it will help a lot.

I did get to 31st in the Ladies WSOP event in 2012 - but it only paid a little less thann $5k.

Iv played like 3 1ks and have a 300% roi over a super meaningful sample. You two girls will be no brainer +EV bets on the 1-2k range of buy in, caveat that iv never played in the us.

Cash wise I'm up maybe 1.5 to 2k over 10 sessions lifetime

How does someone start playing live event though? Did everyone start off playing at the local pub? That's for real cash that is

Other than playing with family I basically started in the free bar/pub leagues to learn the flow of the game and then quickly moved up to the fraternal lodge games (Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge etc.) Very low stakes and soft players.

played once or twice a year.

the meal is a big problem to play live, the second on is software support and play enough hands during the certain time to reduce the variance.

but live is good for social and real
difference between 1.0[real] and 2.0[Cyber]

good luck to you as well.

I have only played in a few live tournaments. Living in Ohio they are not as abundant as they used to be. I like to play 1/2 at the Casino in Toledo every once in a while when the wife lets me. I usually fair pretty well I have only lost money twice. I have never cashed in a live tournament though. It's odd I do well at live cash but horrible on internet cash tables. Horrible at live tournaments but good on internet tournaments.

I found them online and checked them out. The bar leagues I started in awarded small cash prizes or restaurant discounts, but one of them organized a yearly trip to a casino in a neighboring state, where members could play against each other in a $150-ish MTT.

WPT has an amateur league (bars/restaurants) that may be good for finding out about real money games, but be careful where you go and who you play with of course.

I lucked out and found a great live league near friends, except it's 122 miles away. Since I would visit them monthly anyway, it made sense for us to join the league and coordinate visits with the games. Met some great people there who are very solid and serious about improving.

I never played a live tournment.

I try to classify for the Poker Season in portugal by the pokerstars freerolls.

They are disputed in 4 cities in Portugal but unless Espinho the others are too far. Maybe in the next year I try to play live entering directly paying the buy-in.

Interesting replies..... as I mentioned, for me the entertainment factor is huge. As long as I stay +/- relatively even the perks more than make up for it.

@TEEPACK.... try and come visit WSOP-C Cherokee in December... they have plenty of satty's and on the side cash/ring games to test the waters.

I was just lucky in getting a comped room Thanksgiving for their big Dinner to have a nice Holiday with wife ... and (rubbing hands in glee) a whole bunch of sattys for the tournament series which starts Friday... Gobble Gobble :)
