Isildur is a chap who popped up on Full Tilt some months ago now and started ripping apart some of the top pro's on PLO and then not long after lost it all. There's was a bit of a buzz about it, naturally and also because no one knew who he was and he never came out, although many believe him to be a Swedish chap called, I think Victor Blom?

He probably went to a casino and played cash games won a lot then came back online and started play low limit at first and then went to higher limits after.

I think that such crazy players like Isildur1 aren´t the right "idols" for us. No bankrollmanagement, huge risks and swings, broke, getting staked again, crazy plays and so on...that´s nothing for me, thanks  !

But I think players like this and Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey.... etc... have such a natural ability at poker that they are so above our level anyway, I don't know maybe it's just me but I wish/ dream this would happen to me. Imagine putting $200 on FT and turrning it into 1mil. It wont even feel like real money, to us we are all like WOW LOOK AT THAT, but to those players its just numbers and icons, I don't think they see it as "real" money because they started with so little, IE. $200 deposit multiplyed by 10000X.

AFAIK, Isildur1 was crushing a number of Euro sites (iPoker, Prima, Boss, etc) for quite a while, then moved his bankroll to Full Tilt. As atlanta said, he was also staked by TonyG off and on as well.

The two had a falling out after Isildur agree to play in the party poker televised cash game staked by TonyG earlier this year and then backed out at the last second.

Don't believe stories of his turning $2k into $1m in 2 weeks or whatever. It's not the case. That said, he was certainly able to make $4m turn into 0 in just a few weeks at the hands of a number of FT Red Pros, primarily Brian Hastings and Brian Townsend if I recall correctly.

He deposited 2k at the beginning of 2009 and by November 2009 had over 1million. Not in 2weeks lol.

I thought Antonius had bankrolled him for a while b/c he knew how talented he was. Maybe I'm wrong.

Hm, I don't think this is true. He did an interview and talked about him saying basically that he started with 2k and was playing the highest limits 9months later. I couldn't imagine PA wanting to stake especially considering most of his matches were against himself

I agree he might be pro, but I'm guessing he must get very lucky especially to of built his roll the way he plays completely goes against how poker is supposed to be play. He'd go all-in with a high card or one pair on a dangerous board lol.

Don't think I'v seen him fold much haha and as for pot odds and outs, well that's a new kettle of fish. Don't get me wrong though, I still admire what he has achieved.

This made me chuckle.

'goes against how poker is supposed to be play'

The sharing of hand histories is particularly distasteful and should of resulted in far more severe punishments.

Ranny : I agree 100% there with that..all I'm pointing out is that everything you read/learn about poker and are "taught" on forums like this is the total opposite of how it should be played. Some would say Isidurs play is donkey play and the sort of hands he raises/calls with would be frowned upon and when people say that you have to play tight let the donkeys give you their money etc isn't much different from his play.

HUDS only have hand histories between you and your opponent. That's not the reason why he lost. If Brian Hastings used his own hand histories between himself and isildur1, then it's completely fine. But he used other people's hand histories to get additional third party information on isildur1, which is illegal. I believe he used Brian Townsend's and Cole South's hand histories. They grouped up and studied. Using your own hand histories is legal. Using other people's hand histories is illegal. Learn the difference.

According to PTR, his #s speak for themselves.

He's negative $2.5mil overall.

He's positive $2.4mil in holdem.

He's negative $5mil in omaha.

What does this say? Well, it says he had a really, really bad train wreck.
