What's the most tables anyone has run at any one time? I know of one online player who used to run 24 tables, but he found it impossible to keep them going for more than an hour and has now scaled back to nine tables.

I'm bored with 4, comfortable with 6-8, and haven't tried anything past 12 for an extended time.

I'll run 24, but 16-18 is where I'm most comfortable. This is at $10nl and below.

If I'm playing $25nl, then I don't usually have more than 6 going at a time.

My question is this: If you guys play that many tables, how do you play in a live game? You must get bored out of your gourds!

I never go beyond 8...always run the risk of being in 4 or 5 complicated hands at once and making a mistake. I once actually didn't notice a new hand had been dealt on one of my tables and missed out on AA, from then on I've tried to limit myself to a comfortable amount for me. Besides, my vision goes after starring at tiny tables for too long, and it gives me headaches. I don't understand how people can go 18, 24, or even more at a time, I think I would lose my mind.

I think I could do 30 at 6 max if PS allowed it. 24 tables isn't too bad; I can keep up but I do get tired after 60-80 minutes. This is only 2NL and 5NL, so not a lot of money at risk. I can't tile, though. All the tables are stacked right on top of each other and pop up automatically when I need to act.

What monitor size do you need for 12 - 16 tables, not to mention 24? What is the game like then, I bet you could really be called pokerbot, is there any time for thinking and observing others?
Personally I tried 4 tables once, but got fed up with all this flashing and focus changing after 10 mins, maybe that's one reason why I'm still a beginner :)

I used to play 24 tables of full ring upto 100NL (sometimes I still do, coz it is quite fun cramming in 5k hands or more in a day :)). I played it at 200nl for a time, but I think at that level you need a fair bit more to your game than playing robotic style of poker. Playing 24 tables is not as difficult as you think. You gradually build the amount of tables you play, and after a short time you'll be up to 24 tables thinking what's all the fuss about.

24 tables of 6max is totally insane, I think it may be possibly to be a winning player at the smallest stakes, but once you get to 100nl and above I think your more than likely to become a losing player playing that many tables. Only the very best players can multi table to that level and have a fairly profitable margin. There's just so much more meta game invloved in 6max for you to be able to pick that up playing so many tables.

Usually for most players there's an optimum level of tables/winrate. You just have to find out what that level is. You also have to establish what's best for you. Average Joe's, who only want to get to a certain level in the poker knowledge aand development may opt to go for the mega multi tabling line because there are some great deals with rakeback and bonuses. Other players may want to develop there game more and play less tables to concentrate on the finer details of the game and maximise their winrate and play less hours. Fortunaltely there's a choice for you to do whatever you want.

I play one table at a time.
sometimes I will play 2,but usually I will only play in one at a time.
I find myself making mistakes if I am tring to focus on more than one at a time.

I used to play 8 tables at 5nl FR but now that i've switched to 6max i'm only playing 2, just til i get a better idea of how to attack limpers and with what ranges etc, then i'll start slowly adding one at a time like i did for FR, I couldnt even play 2 tables at the beginning of feb lol

Seriously, try stacking. It's a lot easier than people think. No blinking and no focus changing. I can't stand that either.

I've never tried multi-tabling sngs. Are they much slower than FR or 6 max? Is there a limit on multi-tabling sngs on Stars?

I just finished an hour long session of 24 tabling 6-max. It was a bit crazier than last time I tried, but I didn't ever time out and came out up 2 buy-ins -- this is strictly the lowest of the low 2NL, however. Just wanted to see if I could get Stars to refuse to open any more tables, and I was successful -- they refused to let me go past 24.
