hey guys,

does anyone have a plan or guide how to get to earning $1000 per week. if i start with $50 on ps or $150 on ftp, how long shud it take to get there where i can take off $1000 on the account. i am sure the question has been asked. i would like to know what would be the best way to achieve this goal.

It's going to matter a bit how good you are, isn't it? If everyone was just capable of following a formula and turning $50 into $1000/week, there'd be a lot more money going out of the sites than in.

Are you good at poker? What game(s) are you good at? Which are you the best at? The ones you are the best at give you the biggest chance but turning $50 -> $1k in a week isn't exactly something you just sorta follow a formula and you do it. Even a great poker player would have trouble just because of variance.

well one good way to get started is managing your bankroll effectively. you don't want to risk more than 5% at a ring game because if you get 1 bad beat at a high stakes table then you can pretty much say goodbye to that 1 grand a week. I think that's a really high goal for a short amount of time though. you would have to have lots of experience to make that kind of $$ in a week.

my starting point with 50$ is make 10% of the br a week

br rule of 30 buy-ins

will be a grind

nlhe full ring cash

this will take a while maybe 50 weeks

but that is just a very naive simplistic view

prob has a couple more holes than that, that is why i asked for help

Depends how much you play obviously, but you probably need to be playing at least 100nl and ideally 200nl. So you probably need a stable roll of something like 5-15k (to be able to withdraw 1k a week). And to get to that stage from a micro deposit is going to take some time because you are going to have to grind micro sngs/cash, which will be a pathetic $$/hr for anybody.

Might not take that long if you have some experience tho. But if it is the first time you have tried to build a bankroll i wouldn't expect it to happen for quite some time. But that doesn't matter because when you are building a roll the whole idea is to match the stakes you are playing to your current level of skill.

i guess rome wasnt built in a day. and that is the thing from a micro investment would be pretty sweet at the end of the day. thought someone would have a better plan, someone who has done it with some expectations. just playing your br as a guide and see how you do seems very broad i suppose

I could sum it up in one word "FOREVER" lol no but to be realistic it took Chris Ferguson like a year just get to 20k. But say you get to 20k that does not mean your gonna rake up 1 G everyweek, there is varience to consider. you might drop 5k on a downswing then have to fight to get back up to 20k and believe me when i tell you its gonna take longer than a week to do that if you it took you a year to get 20. If you want to be able to take out 1k a week your going to have to have a lot more than 20k in your account so when varience comes into play you can still be withdrawing 1k. I think like 50k would do it maybe even 40 it all depends on how much you play and what your winrate is.

Just do some math.
According to your rule, you'd start off playing NL10 until you have 30 buy-ins for NL25. And play that until you have 30 buy-ins for NL50 etc.

NL10: $50 -> $750 = 70 buy-ins
NL25: $750 -> $1500 = 30 buy-ins
NL50: $1500 -> $3000 = 30 buy-ins
NL100: $3000 -> $6000 = 30 buy-ins

So after winning 160 buy-ins you'd be playing NL200 which can easily make you 1K per week.

Obviously the assumption is that you can hold your own every time you move up. 160 buy-ins are 8000ptBB. You divide that by (how many hands you play per hour/100 * your winrate) to find out how many hours of play it will take you.

Assuming a winrate of 1.5ptBB and 350 hands per hour as an example, you'd calculate:
8,000ptBB / ((350hr/100)*1.5ptBB) = 1,524hr.
Assuming 30 hours of play per week it would take you 51 weeks. All these numbers are somewhat arbitrary as it's just an example.

Of course, it's just as easy to loose 1K+ a week when you play NL200. Or a lot more. The real question is whether you'll be able to make your game evolve in order to be and remain a profitable player while climbing up the stakes.

I'll tell you what......I've found that online poker does seem to favor certain players....a friend of mine let me play his rake freeroll that had a 5K prize pool, he was out of town.....I finished 2nd i rolled through them like a dozer...in the end i suffered bad beats to claim 2nd and $1100....I firmly believe if you want the good cards and you want to make money then you deposit every day and play every day...the more you deposit the more you are worth and i don't want to say it but i played in a vip account and vip accounts get better cards...simple as that....i watch him play and his cards are usually good in the fact that he does not suffer the blows i do...like for instance...i flop a straigh and a guy hits flush on river...this does not happen to him....i flop a set and guy hits straight on river...this does not happen to him....I have QQ and go against AA this does not happen to him....i can go on and on about how things don't happen to him as they happen to me....I can only believe it is because he deposits every day, the site call him when he has not deposited in a week and offer him outrageous deals to deposit...i wathced him deposit $200 to get a free ticket to the $500+30 at AP...that is outrageous...so if you want to make money, deposit everyday and the perks alone will make it worth while...but in the meantime play hard and smart and learn and evolve and you may gain the confidence needed to behave in such a manner.....

I will also tell you that this player deposits $100 and goes straight to 1/2 sometimes he may only last 10 minutes...but usually he does well...then he will play some (small)SNG's while moving up to 2/4 straight away...he don't give a damn about bankroll management....and this guy withdrew over 100k last year while depositing 20k constantly has checks showing up and running down to walmart to make his moneygram deposits.....his biggest cashouts come from PS,then BD then AP then FT....in that order on the amount he cashes out when he's on his game he will cash out 5k-10k at PS if it's bodog like 3K AP 2 k and FT 1k....so if you are looking for the big money and the ability to roll up the ladder PS is where you want to do it...mind you he deposits like 5x before he gets a check but when he finally gets his check it's well more then his deposits

If he was not a drunk who goes hog wild at the end of every night losing all the 2-3k he won, if he would just go to bed....he would win more...so the key is deposit, deposit,deposit....and get on the phone with the site ...you would be shocked at what they will give you after you have reached their VIP...and don't forget your rakeback...and never underestimate the FPP tourneys you get...i'm seen him win them so many times and get the $500+ entries and unregister to receive $T....or win multiple times at sites that do not allow unreg....then they are forced to give ya the $T

1 more thing to ADD..If he''s not playing, he's WATCHING....he never played his oppponent before he sits with them...he will watch for a week a big money guy....he will get his rush and sit with them and invariably hand them their ass then disappear...so .... play how you want but the only person i know who cashes huge checks of of $100-200 deposits is this guy and he clears his account every time he withdrawls....and they beg him to make deposits...they beg him to play....he usually makes vip at any site within a month...and then when he achieves his VIP his cards become better and more profitable and his perks outrageous...banging out FPP tourneys....because they grow so fast as a VIP....anyhow...like i said he jumps from level to level...many,many people find a level and stay there...these people are his prey he has them at every level and he know them better then they know themselves because what they don't realize is he is watching them planning his next coup on his way up the ladder...if he's at $1000 for the day...right to 5-10..and a a couple of $20 SNG's...all of it on the line...if you are concerned with what u will have after you lose...(bankroll management) are you not setting yourself up to lose? afterall you only started with $100 and you set out to gamble, if you lose 1 or 2 k at the end did you really lose 1-2k? no, you lost $100, can you have the discipline to cash out? do you have the drive and balls to go for the big money? Few do, but i seen it work many,many ,many times when you win you win big, when you lose...it's only $100...but you can be satisfied with the fact that you took your best shot, not pansy around...

Well yeah, like I said. The assumption was that he can hold his own every time he moves up which is a flawed assumption if he's never played that high. I should have made that more clear - I thought it was obvious enough.

Maybe OP should tell us how experienced a player he is. If he's never played higher than 50NL, any math on how long it's going to take him or whether it's possible at all will inevitably be way off.

I would argue, but then again, it's thanks to irrational players like you that we clear-minded players make a profit, so yeah, you're right. Actually, i would advise you to come to my tables right after you deposit so we can test that theory of yours... :D

I think Belgo hasn't deposited in 3 years and has cashed out a fortune last week, so you should probably take him up on this offer. The poker site will probably make him lose every pot.

I play primarily on FullTilt where there are no reload bonuses. I don't need to reload to get rakeback and VIP perks, don't worry for me... As a general rule for all poker rooms, most VIP perks are linked to how much you pay in rake, not how much you deposit.
