The extra J probably made it a lot easier to let go. Would he have been able to refrain from putting any more money in the pot if the flop had been 6 8 J instead?

great fold from his part he just knew what the other player had!
that is a good poker player,
the one who folds great hands when he knows he is beaten!

He knew all he really had was a pair of ones.

I imagine most of the players around here have folded AA on a bad flop. I know I have, exactly and only once . However, most of the time, most of us don't listen to that little voice of reason and do stupid stuff .:(;)

I think you have to listen to what Johnny said. Huck is a very agressive player, and probably would have bet those scare cards, if he didn't hit. But Johnny said that he read a monster hand in Huck's check.

I would have liked to have seen an ace or another jack on the river, to pay Huck back for trying to trap. Especially another jack. Then we would have seen how good Chan's read really was. With another ace, Chan has the nuts, but another jack would have left Huck with jacks over sixes, against jacks over aces. If Chan would have called that, that really would have been impressive.

That's a tough call to make online. I don't think I would have the discipline. But perhaps he saw or heard something in the check to know? Very impressive.

well ya gotta figure, theres two other open hands, thats 4 more cards, and odds are someone has a better hand...you just cant trust AA with that kinda flop anymore, because alot of people will play anything these days. thats exactly why mr chan makes a killing playing this game.

I thought I saw something in Hucks demeanor that suggested he hit big, but I don't think that in game I could have layed down the aces. That's why I ain't Johny Chan!

The Best of the Best play the players, not so much the cards. We have all heard that, here it is in living color

I actually get the flop and turn check, but I'm not sure I understand the river fold. Read or no read, was he that sure that Huck wouldn't take a stab at that pot with just about any 2 cards? I think I even heard Doyle speculate on that. Not even worth a call? Good fold this time but I have to wonder about its long term EV.

At around 0:47 seconds the way Huck looked at Johnny when he checked was the tell that he had a big hand. I imagine Johnny has seen Huck check a thousand times, and this time was a little different than usual.

It's a hard lay down but a logical one....pocket A's look great but get beat easy on the flop a lot by suited JQ JK ect.

It's not the laydown difficulty that's amazing. It ain't difficult to lay it down if there's a pair on board. It's the way he lays it down even though Seed only value betted. Chan wasn't faced with all in bet. Chan was only faced with small bet. Most people would call and say, let's see what he's got. But Chan doesn't even spare single of his chips and instant folds. If someone all ined from that point, Everyone in Chan's position would fold. But if someone only betted small or value betted, most people would call with their pocket Aces. But Chan laid it down. That's what's amazing. Most people would call and see opponent's hands. People think it's amazing he lays down pocket aces because they think "how can he possibly lay that DOWN when it's like invincible hand most of the time" But actually, it was easy laydown if you do "reading the board" because any Jack can beat you. But if it's minimal or value raise, then most people still call with pocket aces because they think it's worth calling just to check it out.
