How many times do we say today I'm never playing poker again only to find ourselves back the next day? Is the pull, of possibly winning at 0.01% odds, so great?

If you play only freerolls you can only win and not loose anything. I personally think that this is the best strategy to build initial bankroll and become good enough to play later on paid tournaments or cash games. You should also have the will to learn and improve your game (just playing for years without improving is not enough these days). Finally it very much depends if you take the game as fun and hobby so it does not matter so much if you win or loose or you want to make money from it.

Do you keep playing if you have the impression that your opponent can see your cards?

I stopped playing for about 3-4 years due to being so addicted. Now I just play for fun. I do play in hopes that I will improve and win more and do better. I do play freerolls but i've noticed some cash games and tournaments are very different to freerolls. Different game play etc.

Do you keep playing if you have the impression that your opponent can see your cards?

definitely not.

Everything is very simple.
I always control my spending on the game.
Therefore, I can not lose more than I planned on a day.
If you play poker without a bankroll management system, you can end up badly in the future. In addition, playing on the amount of money more than you can afford, is difficult psychologically.

Play Free Rolls . Make a bankroll . Pretend you are Chris Ferguson. Withdraw when you have $30,000 and dont forget to reward [ 10% is the norm ] the person that gave you this great advice . :damnmate:

I goto bed pissed off, question every hand I played, run the scenerio in my head again and agin. Sometimes get to the point where I say Im not playing this game ever again, then I slowly start reading poker forums or study something poker and GD IM BACK PLAYING THIS DUMB GAME AGAIN!!!

I think what it is, you are always learning applying new stuff and it makes you want to keep coming back for more punishment to try these moves and see if you understand it enough to make it works, and that one time it does, washes out the 500 other times it didnt

Trust me, I've been there. When I am on a Cooler, the only thing you can do is go back and review hands. Carefully anylized every street, put notes with every street, put notes on players. Anything to clean up leaks, and get an advantage against other players. If you don't know if you made the right play or not, as a pro. They will tell you.

I review every game I play, of course I filter out most the hands I don't play, but I still review the tough spots, and big pots of other players. I can say though, when I'm running hot, I notice my stack of hands that are listed "for Review" gets pretty large, but when I'm not running good. I run out of hands to review.

now THAT is the million dollar question... how do you go forward when you know you're being cheated by someone? if not the site themselves, some software developer that has cracked the code...

Went out very early in both CC freerolls I played today, ran KK into 33 and JJ into AA; didn't need to get it in the middle with the hands I did, wasn't very patient today I guess and that is the extent of my rant. Will try it again to tomorrow.

I like the game of poker, I said a lot that I will not play, but I continue to play even when I lose, I just like to play this game and sometimes make a profit in the bankroll, I play more freerolls and try to win then to play good tournaments or cash games to win more!

I am new to poker and I think a good way for me to keep playing is to play freeroll tournament and improve my game play. If I feel confident enough then I will deposit some amount initially maybe 10-20 dollars and then set a limit of how much I can deposit monthly. This way I can learn and enjoy the game :):)

The variance of poker gives us this, if you maintain a solid game and a good strategy, you will probably have more winnings than loss.

Hi Blank,

its a good thread this as it makes players think about what motivates them, for me - experience tells after 11 years that whether i win or lose, my formula is to ensure i take a break from the game and factor in everyday life, socialising with friends, enjoying the sun (when its here) and keeping myself busy makes me mentally happy, refreshed and that affects my poker results - you might want to check out one of my threads about happiness and poker..

good luck to you

Well my friend ; I think that we keep playing poker after too many loses because poker has money involved, and our minds produce a fantasy that we can get rich.

Take a break to get your head straight is good advice. I don't always take my own advice.

I'm starting poker now, it's addictive and it takes a lot of time, but if you realize that it's just a game you'll remember that anything can happen.

The desire to win is very high and it is a disease, like alcoholism or drug addiction. That's why for some time now I've only played promotional tournaments or freerolls and to your question why I do not leave poker at all? If there is a possibility of additional earnings, which at the moment is essential for me, why not use it? When I earn so much to fully satisfy all of my needs, or the amount of poker will be insignificant, then once and again I will stop spending time on this lesson, because I'd rather spend this time on much more enjoyable moments of life.

Hello!

Over the years I've had a lot of lost in poker, and many very much less wins! This fact makes me think that I do not know poker really well!I am very critical of my game! I'm annoyed by my losing way of playing! I can quit poker as a whole, but I do not want it, because if I give up,it will look like that poker has defeated me! I play poker to win my weak game, i do not like! If I can become a winning player, it will be a great pleasure for me!
