So I just signed up again with pokerstars after joining this site and deciding to give PS another try. Well I've made a little money but I can't stand playing with all the donks on that site, I know it's the biggest site around and maybe that's why there are so many bad players out there but come on.

PokerStars is a great site but I may have to delete my account again because it's not fun playing with the people there.

Am I being a suck or do I have a point, please join the thread and NOT with an A 3, LOL!

Improve your level so you are playing at a higher money limit? Ultimately donks will help you more often than hurt you. Though honestly I have hard time seeing that a lot.

Alot of players enjoy playing on tables that are full of donks. Others like playing with some players who are also good (as this is generally how we get better and can be a more interesting & challenging game).
You won't find it in the micros on Pokerstars. The other night (for the hell of it), I reg. & played one of those $2 buyin 36 player satellites to the 1/4mil. It was extremely painful to say the least. I don't think I'd have any interest in playing poker if those were the kinds of tables my roll limited me to playing.
Fulltilt micros seem a bit better than Stars imo (as far as MTT & SNG play goes).
Why not play the 5NL tables so you can get yourself rolled for marginally bigger buyins? Playing deepstacked cash game will also help with certain areas of your tournament play (deepstack tournament play that is).
final option.... deposit more.
When I first deposited I chose to deposit ~$150 on two sites. A month later I wished I had deposited more (so I could play at slightly higher levels). I hadn't lost my orig. deposit and had actually added a bit to it. I still ended up depositing more to both of the sites and was glad I did.

GL on the tables.
(final option..... just grit & bear it... play ABC poker and play your big hands fast in those super micros)

If you cant beat the bad players how do you expect to beat the good ones?

Long term you will make money when people play inferior hands against you. If you play your hands correctly.

Tighten up pre and play TAG to beat the average donk table.

Yes, it sucks losing any amount of chips to a donk, but you really need to embrace them. There's a reason they're called donks: because they play too many hands and call too many bets. They'll take you out but they are also your way to double up. After my initial burst of anger after a bad beat by the donk I just tell myself that next time I'll win.

No offense, but the people that complain about "Donks" are not too good of players themselves. I'm willing to be you limp in with a lot of hands and you don't think about your position too often while you are playing.

Search the forum for threads on position and bet sizing, that will help your game out big time.

First off, are you playing for real money or play money? If you are playing for play money then donks are a way of life and they are going to mess the game up.

They are one reason why I switched to real money.

I've found in real money the problem isn't donks, the problem is players who have better hands than I do or are just flat better players than me.

When playing for real money, good players don't mind being at a table full of donks. You just tighten up and wait for a good hand. If the blinds are too big to do that successfully then play smaller stakes.

When it comes to real money, you won't hear good players complaining about donks very much.

Donks can get me with that two-outer whenever they want, because when it comes down to it I'm going to win that hand 90%+ of the time. You have to keep your cool and understand they really are beneficial.

Put your money were your mouth is and I'll show you how many hands I play in a game instead of you sitting at home guessing.

Of course you want donks at your table when you play, what I can't handle are the what I call the "lotto" players. These idiots are beyond infuriating. Any 2 are good for any amount at any time. F-ck that, that is not poker on ANY level.

I just had a meltdown on PS last night. AA cracked twice in a row by runner runner B.S., got banned from chat, replied to their email to cancel my account with the ending of go f-ck yourself. Did I handle this poorly? Of course, I'm not stupid, it is just too hard to dodge ALL the idiots on that site. By the way, if I had more money to put in, I would to move up. I cashed big in a $30 dollar trny and did ok in a $50 dollar trny, I cashed out the winnings for my wife engagement ring. Since then, only could put in enough for micros, but that's over now.

I don't remember saying I can't beat bad players but what I did ask was "How do you handle the millions of donks on P*. That's all I asked and I didn't mention how I play the game so stop trying to twist my question around so it makes you feel better.

You just gotta wait for your hand and then milk the donks outta their cash.

Yes, I know it's extremely frustrating when you play well and still get butt raped by luck. It really sucks when some guy overplays a small pair. You flip over your QQ only to have him hit a set of 3s on the flop and clean you out. Eventually, though, it turns around. Or some guy calls your top pair 10s with ace high and 3 kicker, only to hit a runner runner 2 4 for a straight... and you had A10.

My bad luck run lasted one week, but tonight I seem to be doing better. 0 bad beats so far.

Thanks for the replies and it's nice to see that there are players out there that understand what I'm saying.

Your question infers that you don't know how to handle the donks on PokerStars. Thus, not able to beat them. If this is not the case, then you need to re-phrase your question.

In answer to your question, I handle them in a few ways. First, I have had to realize that even bad players get lucky and will beat my hand sometimes. Just look at the odds of AA vs 72os to see what I mean.

This means I should only risk a certain amount of my money for any particular game, see Bank Roll Management threads for that.

Another way to handle the donks is to categorize them. Make notes on them. There are calling stations, any suited cards, any ace will do, raise based on the strenth of my hand, etc... Make notes on them, then when you see them again, you take their money.

Regulars of this forum have seen a lot (more than 1000) threads that start, "I can't play against bad players". When you stop to think about it, you will see how ridiculous that sounds. Yes they get lucky, yes they suckout on you. BUT OVER TIME YOU WILL BEAT THEM.

Good players do the things I have listed above plus a lot more. Good Players will find your tendencies and exploit them to take your money. I will stick to the donks, thank you.

By the way, what's your sceen name on PokerStars :D .

LOL... I don't know TriggaLos personally, and I've never chatted with him on this site before, but I know he's posted some quality stuff, and has been around a while, so instead of snapping off, take the criticism or post some stuff that proves him wrong, instead of Pokerstars is too hard cause bad players suck. My bets on Trig

I handle the donks by playing at somewhat higher levels, but still well within my bankroll limits, and picking tables that have a mix of players. I will not pick the table with the highest average pot, or the highest number of players in a hand. Since it is sometimes time-consuming to vet a table ahead of time, the thing to do is sit down and not play much at all for a bit. Get a sense of the styles of the others. If there are too many players playing bingo, I may leave. I may not--tables like that can be extremely beneficial, albeit swingy. If I stay, I accept that. I take responsibility for my decision to stay there. Given that it's going to be a bit of a crazy time, I do this at lower levels than I might normally, and put less money on the table than I would with a more stable, more predictable crew of players.

This is the season when the new players arrive in droves, and this year more than others. Coverage of the wsop final table was huge this year, and a lot of people start dreaming of wild times and crazy money. If they watched the edited final table, then they are thinking that the hands shown are how the game is played all the time. They don't know that it took 14 hours to play down to two, and then three hours heads-up. They have no idea that a lot of the time at the final table, there was one raise and a lot of folding. They don't know that the bulk of the playing, the days and days, were full of careful play and the occasional bit of luck. They don't know that going all-in with 22 is not generally a good plan. Most of them have not touched a poker book. Some will lose their first deposit, and maybe a few more, and start to wonder why they are losing. Some will start working on their game. Some just enjoy playing LAG. But even they will, over time, tone it down. Or will set themselves a poker budget, so they don't lose their house.

Your timing is a bit bad to head back to online poker. But keep in mind what to do about it.

Crazy?

What? Isn't that what good players are looking for to make money? Why would you want to play with players who your gonna break even with if your lucky. Yes you may get sucked out on once in a while but if you play correctly you should make money with bad players. Come on and go make some money
