It depends on my mood... If I am in a bad mood I am shouting effin and blindin at the laptop screen.

It also depends on how I played the hand and if I played it correctly, then I don't let the result effect me. If I lost cos of one of my many brainfarts then I shout effin and blinding and myself.

Going for a walk can help you to relieve your anger after a bad beat, what I tend to do is listen to music to lift my mood so I don't slip into depression after tilting. As soon as you feel anger after a bad beat, imo its the first sign of you going on tilt.

I usually take a break if I am playing cash games . Maybe even take a little walk or something outside to get out of my chair for a little bit . It is good to get the blood flowing , imo . If I am playing a tournament , I just hit the bong and grind on :) !

when i played 2nl/5nl i would tilt bad...would usually go to a 25nl table and shove ATC until my roll was gone...felt good to just be angry and get it in..lost a few micro bankrolls doing that, but would have the cardschat freerolls to fall back on to rebuild the roll..

im much better now, to the point where it doesn't really bother me anymore...if i get it in good or play the hand well and as optimally as possible then i don't care what the dealer throws down...and if i play a hand badly, i will try to learn from it and review the hand after the session etc..

i took up meditating recently, so maybe that has something to with not giving a **** anymore :D

Smoke a cigarette, take a coffee and try to relax, but is not always effective.

Just take it in stride and move on to the next hand...won't be the 1st or the last bad beat.

I just laugh and quickly take notes of the player that sucked out on me.

For example I had KK and someone called my raise with 68s (Full ring cash game). We were heads up & he flopped trips on a 88Q board. I fired couple barrels because I thought maybe Qx hands were in his range. I was a little bit stressed to see small suited gap connectors, but I just made note of his loose calling range and moved forward.

If you tilt every time you take a bad beat, you're going to have a long journey.

It's great to always be observing & taking notes! I don't consider calling with 86s to be a loose call while sitting 100bb's deep.

Badbeats - if its tournament poker. I don't even typically watch the runout (aside from seeing what the player is getting it in with, calling off with, etc. etc.). If its a cash table it is duly noted (although I typically play fastforward/rush style cash tables... but still take notes)

I think you get to a point where you learn about variance in poker & if your hand doesn't hold up it really doesn't have the same affect on you any longer. Also you learn to realize that others getting it in bad is a good thing (why get pissed about a good thing?)

TT+,AQs+,AKo 71.89% equity (EP tight raise)
86s 28.11% equity
---
KK 79.17%
86s 20.83%

I guess for 86s we're looking for implied odds if it's 100 BB deep play?

I don't like to lose, and I dislike getting sucked out on as much as anyone else. If it was truly a bad beat then I know that I'm going to make money in the long run against this player. Maybe not today, but likely tomorrow and most other days.

Keep focused on getting your money in good and you'll be fine. Short term results are just that - short term. Keep your head up, and keep making good decisions.

OK. And sometimes I yell out a swear word or flip off the screen...

I like you EvertonGirl...you'd be welcome at my home table anytime...even though yer a blue (note I didn't call you bitter blue....lol).

Yeah whilst I go for a walk I gather my thoughts, replay the hand etc. had to do that last night after a bad beat, or so I thought, then realised I'd actually made a bad call....i flopped k flush, but got rivered by A flush....fter 3 betting which annoyed me, but he raised my river bet so should have known / could have worked it out...and I should have been stronger post flop....which usually I am....gggrrrr.....lol

Thanks for your input...

Sounds like a positive mood....food for thought perhaps. I'm fairly inexperienced so all input/advice welcomed....

Screaming out loud running five times around the house and sit down to play again.

Or I just tell myself that bad beats happens and if it wasn't for variance poker wouldn't be profitable.

It's happens so often that it's almost expected. I just go with the flow and play the next hand.

everyone is different man, some people have the mental side of poker sorted out at the start and others take abit longer...it took me abit longer haha..and obviously the longer you play and more experienced you get then you develop a better understanding on things like variance etc.

if you are new to the game, then i would just play as many games as possible and work on your game little by little..shouldn't really be thinking about tilting at this stage...it will probably happen but its natural at the beginning.

not much to do after the hand is over maybe lick my wounds and go on. but of course note the other player put hand in the replayer so i can feel the pain again and go over the play or plays in the hand. but i dont dwell on the lose it wont be the last time. but the most important thing for me is to note the other player for future reference.
