Online, I don't say anything, as some don't speak English and I know they want to socialize too. Learning how to play the game for the first time is one thing, but sharing information is cheating.

But live, while I'm in a hand, I have said English only please, as in the past players have table talked about what hands they folded, etc., in their own languages, (Japanese Russian, Chinese, etc) during the hand. Its hard to enforce English only at the tables here in Korea, as sometimes none of them speak English at all.

One time in a trny, the table chipleader was always having a conversation with her Mongolian boyfriend who was standing next to her. Come to find out, he's telling her what to do, but not only that he was caught looking at the other players cards at the table. I told the dealer, and he was told to move away, no wonder she was the chip leader!

You learn to ignore foreign chat on-line and even block them.
I very really see players helping each other though.

I have seen practically no chat in other languages which has been aimed at helping the other player.
Mind you I wouldn't like to translate all the disrespectful comments

I don't mind so much in a tournament, or I should say an MTT, as the chances of two players from whatever country ending up at the same table just so they can cheat are so slim. On the other hand, when it comes to cash games, I won't tolerate it. I've seen too much silliness to rule anything out. I used to hear rumors of a group of guys that used to skype during tournaments to try to gain an advantage over there opponents on a membership site where every tournament is a freeroll. For straight up cash, there is no telling what people will do.

We have seen from past cheating scandals the lengths that some will go to in order to gain an advantage. Back when I was playing $10NL cash games, I used to notice two players that were always at the same table. I've said before that when you're multi-tabling, it's not uncommon to notice several of the same players at different tables. But I found it odd that I never saw one of these players without the other. For instance, you would never see them join a table unless there were at least two open seats. Then they would join the table within seconds of each other. When one left, the other would leave. I thought it was suspicious, so I wouldn't play at tables that they were at. If I was at a table and they sat, I would leave the table.

I'm not saying there are groups of Eastern Europeans conspiring to take over the world by conquering the micros. But nowadays I'm usually going back and forth between $200NL and $400NL games. Being able to string together winning sessions at those stakes can't start to add up. So too can the losses. For that reason I don't take any chances. For those stakes I won't put anything past anyone. I don't multi-table. I play one table at a time and focus on everything. If I see anything suspicious, I will usually leave and take a break and change stakes when I return. If I see any foreign language, I put it into a translator immediately. I used to do it just out of curiosity when it happened it tourneys. But again, for the stakes that I usually play at, I'm not taking chances. It's usually a one way conversation from someone complaining about a beat. Every once in a while, one player will say something and another may reply. But if I see any prolonged conversation and I will report it and leave the table.

It depends, if they are only saying hello I dont mind since i can recognize the Arrivederci, Hola, Gracie.
but if is a long statement then it gets suspicious and iIask them to stop it right away, unless of course is in Spanish since i will understand everything they say. :D

I wish they would monitor the language more often in these games. poker stars does have warnings sometimes that only english can be used. Players don't adhere to those rules, and think it is unfair.

You can use google translator and you will know approximattelly what are they talking about.
But for long time i dont have seen that players are helping each to other using chat- unlawfully.
All like to speak their language, maybe some people dont know english- so they can speak a bit at their language. Why not?

Absolutely normal, in extreme cases, there is a poker language which is understandable for most users.

Prefer turn off the chat online and play normally my game. The part of socializing is after the game. As they say in brazil: "Bora pra action" ;)
