In my case I 'm an apprentice, took very little in poker, about 3 months and I loved it , I find a mental sport as runners train muscles , we train our brains and ambition to play this game it comes to make poker becomes an important part of my life , and I've spent many hours on the computer, spent time studying the methods and thank fortunate to have entered into this beautiful game:)

Poker is a massive part of my exitance, but its sad how few people I can discuss it with. Its especially big for me at the moment as I am spending loads of time grinding to help fund a potential holiday to Vegas.

In terms of other players I know, one of my old mates used to play professionally, but got a job for long term security and to reduce his stress levels. Another couple of old pals used to play to make a nice side income, in fact they probably still do.

There are only about 5 people I know at the moment who are aware I play. The problem is poker has some kind of bad stigma attached to it, people are too quick to lump poker players in to the same group of people that spend all day in the bookmakers or playing fruit machines. They fail to comprehend that some poker players have a massive edge against the people they play.

A girlfriend of one of my mates always asked me if I still played poker everytime we meet up as a group. She kept telling me to quit while I was ahead. She is an educated person in a good job but there is no point trying to reason. I eventually got fed up and told her I stopped playing just to shut her up.

I bet my work colleagues would all look down on me if they knew I played pretty much every night. Even though I make several hundred pounds extra every month, and they just watch rubbish on TV every night like zombies. I wonder if there are other people at my work that are in the same boat as me. I kind of doubt it, but I guess in some work places there must be other people that grind the microstakes.

I could just inagine me going in one day and saying that I made £250 last month playing poker, I have no doubt that first first reply would be....."yes, but how much did you lose?".........

Im so glad tha Cardschat exists and I can discuss the game with so many great likeminded people.

I play poker recently. For me, it's a good exercise for my brain too. I also read a lot about poker, I watched the video, and now I try to improve my level of play. Still, I try not to forget about the real world. I have a wife and children. Therefore, I try not to pay a lot of time to poker. It's just a game.

Well, It's all about fun for me, and I hope I can make some money from it, BUT, it's not my main goal.. I just want to play, to win and if I can make it profitable, good too.

When I started 13 years ago I was crazy about it too. I spent a lot of hours on the computer too. I lost a lot of money too. It cost me to learn, because I didn't have a forum like CC to get help with my game early on. I love the game, and I like what it does for a person when they learn one step at a time from the very start. These days I have cut way back on playing. I think I spend more time here than playing poker. Sometimes it's just as good helping someone learn the game as it is playing. So poker is a lot of things to me. One things is for sure, it's always there if I want to play and get other things off my mind.

It's a fairly big part of my life. Everyday I'm always trying to improve my game. Weather it's by playing, reading, watching, discussing, whatever. I always find or make time everyday to do one or more of those things.

I have the same reply as I did on another thread.

Its changed so much over the years.
Back when I first hit the tables, I was off my head and putting in full days from the time I awoke. I still ate properly and did all the other stuff needed to help run a family And keep a house going, but apart from that it was all poker.
This year is different. Im only able to get a max of 4 hours and that all works around the CC games. Playing the world cup, teams league and the freerolls that are up on offer helps keep me motivated and have a poker schedule In the first place. I also play other tourneys so I can get in a full 4 hour session at the same time.

Sorry for the cut and paste.
