Hi,

Last night I won a $11 buyin tourney, increasing my bankroll from $200 to well over $1200. I've been playing $11 SNGs and $6/$11 tourneys (and sometimes $.10/.25 cash games, but I am a better tournament player than a cash game player).

Now I have a decent bankroll, should I continue playing these limits or should I look for higher stake games ?

Are you a winning player at the $11s?

There have been a lot of good threads on bankroll management lately. You should check them out. But, I think the consensus is that if you continue to play tournaments you should not risk more than 5% of your bankroll for any one tournament.

Yes, I am a winning player at $11 SNG. (And I've noticed, having this bankroll makes me more confident (no scared money), so I'm playing even better than I normally would.

I am staying clear of cashgames for now. I tend to lose big on those.

Congrats, and WTG!

Seems to me, playing at least a few more of these, say 2 more weeks worth, and cementing the confidance at this level would NOT be a bad idea!

That's common sense as well =P
The max buy-in I'd feel comfortable playing is $33.

Yeah stay at a level which you are comfortable with, because thats where you will play better and with more confidence. You can try experimenting a few games at a higher level if you want and if it doesnt work out go back to the

5% of your bankroll is fine for playing sit and go's (single table) which would leave your buyins at anything up to $50. I wouldnt recomend jumping up that high straight away though, try a few $22's the money is good if your winning, and its a decent step up in level from the $11's.

MTT play is a different beast, because most of the money is sitting in the top 3 places, so getting ITM lots is not your goal, the goal is the top half of the final table. Hence the variance is much higher, 1-2% should be your max buy-in here, leaving your max buy-ins at $24.

So on a br of 1k u saying u should only play mtts to the value of 10/20 buy ins?
I treat mtts like sngs because i know that u can always make up any lost mtt buy ins with sngs. If you are a winning sng player i would say that you can buy in for anything up to 5% in mtts because u can make the difference and keep your br ticking over simply by doing sngs

but then i dont have a set in stone br management system i play where i am winning and if this is over the 5% rule so be it u can always drop down a level again

I'm glad to see you feel this way. And tenbob is correct, I was actually referring to buy-in and rebuys.

Played my first $22 SNG today.

You finished in position 1
1st place - riedel777 - $72
2nd place - italsky3 - $48

The competition was a lot tougher. But it was fun :)
