How can cash games be just different but not better than tournaments?

If something is different, it is worse suited for particular roles or circumstances than the thing from which it is different.

So, for recreation and adrenaline pumping poker where you can play insane and know there's a maximum to your loss, tournaments are better suited.

For grinding profit and regularly walking away from a table or many tables with more than you had walking in, cash games are better.

I prefer tournaments, but I can leave a cash game anytime.

I prefer on-line tournaments and live cash games. but I have only played cash with people I know. Wouldn't want to walk into a room full of strangers, too much chance of collusion.
Either way though, I set a limit to the amount I am willing to lose.

The cash games have more pressure because you see your money up and down. In tournaments you pay a buy in and for the rest few hours this is what you lose and trying to get in money, with less pressure.

Small stakes tournaments tend to be played much more aggressively than cash games in my experience.

Cash games are cool but it usually ends up that the person with the biggest bankroll is gonna fare better.. I love tournament play when it's no rebuys. Rebuys tend to make tournaments seem more like cash games with the biggest bankroll being able to push around the smaller guys.. All in any 2 cards because they can keep rebuying or double rebuying etc.. Just messes up the tournament to me..
