I am building my BR using freerolls and sngs then I will move up to cash games.

This has been a great experience for me because I have learned so much and gotten so much better without having to blow a lot of money to do it.

But lately I find myself getting extremely bored with super micros.

I finally worked my way up to 4.00 via freerolls and sngs then got into a cash 2/4 micro game last night.

The average pot was 0.33

I was making about 0.50 an hour while dealing with a little variance.

I would like to skip the super micros and move up to where the average pot is 1.50

In order to get into these size pots how big does my BR need to be? Also is the level of play much different at these stakes?

thanks

Hi,

I'd suggest not playing cash games yet.

You have worked your way up to $4.00 from freerolls and varience can literally wipe you out. You do only have one buy-in at the end of the day and one all-in and you're broke again.

Personally, you would be best just grinding the freerolls and building up a BR as you have little play available..

If this is on pokerstars however, then they have 10c and 25c sng's games which you could use.

I'd strongly suggest just even depositing something small like only $20.00 and working from there.

Unless you're at pokerstars, you're going to find it tough to grind from freerolls and up the micros using correct BR managment unless you bink a big score in one.

So my bank roll needs to be 20.00 to play the average pot of 1.50?

What about the level of play VS pot size 0.33

thanks alot

No I'm not saying you need $20.00 for it, just ideally you need "something" to be playing these micro games because the bankroll isn't good managment.

Ideally for 4nl you need to have 30 buy-ins at least because of swings, so really you need $120 for 4nl but could do it with $100 I guess to avoid going busto.

btw..don't look at average sized pots, it's irrelvent. Bankrolls are done based on buy-ins and you need 30-40 at the micros imo.

How many hours did it take to accumulate your $4? Maybe if you think of that, it will be easier to avoid playing in situation where you can lose it all on one hand or by not cashing in one tournament.

If your little trial at 4NL indicates that you are +EV at this level, then by all means, consider depositing. But if you're still unsure in this regard, you might be better off continuing to grind the freerolls while you improve your game enough to hold your own at micro-stakes.
