How many of you that play online also entertain with the occasional home game among friends? if so do you put time limits on the game? or pot limits? Or is it up to each individual to discipline themselves?

Haven't played a homegame in a while. Mostly because the guys I used to play with have all moved away.

Limit in that game was .25/.50 Limit. So, it was mostly a social game. A "big night" was $20-40 up or down.

I also played once in a .25/.50 NL home game, but it wasn't an "ongoing game". Just more of a one time thing.

If I had a home game, I'd probably play in that more often.

Oh... and "time limits".. We usually played until 2 or 3 am.

I play at home with friends. Every 10 minutes blinds go up (plus 5 in the small blind and 10 in the big blind) . We start with 5 in the small blind and 10 in the big blind. I think we usually play 4-5 hours.

we've created a league with my work friends. Structured bb raises. League points. Rake for the Main Event (last of the year) and for league champ.

Really, it's exciting to play among friends, jokes with the loosers etc..

Just online, sometimes ( 1 - 2 times per a year ) I can play with alcohol with my friends. Better time to speak and have fun with them during poker. But 1 time we play for the real money. That's was GREAT))))

Here in brazil, home games are a usual tradition among poker players!!
In my case, the structure is very simile to online, the only difference are the blind levels and time.
It's to good playing with friends.

Play home games once a week, usually Friday or Saturday night with a ~$10 buy-in (which is a lot for a bunch of students in india) and house rules say common blind (everyone posts small except for the big blind). A game normally lasts 6-7 hours.

Its a good idea to set a time limit on home games so that there is a specified stop time. Usually people who are stuck always want to play longer and people who are winning want to quit early. Having the stop time pre determined will help solve this problem.
