Ive been trying to find a home game in my area for a while and finally found one that is playing this friday. There is a local casino nearby but the minumum buy in is 100$ and i am not comfortable doing that on a consistent basis yet. Do you think its safe to find home games off sites like craigslist, etc? anyone have experience with this?

i dont know but i wouldnt feel comfortable going to a home game from a list or an add i found somewhere. its always better to go to home games with people that you know. like if you get invited by a friend of a friend or something like that. id just go to the casino or wait untill one of my buddies sets smthng up. just to be on the safe side. you dont wanna end up playing poker at the house of the leader of the russian mafia.:p

I would take my chances on a casino before I would play @ a home game with peeps that I do not know.At least casino's have security.Just think how it might be if all of the players were friends but you and you cleaned house with them on the table. I do not think winning would be to fun & things could get nasty.

I wouldn't play a home game at that level unless i knew a bit more about the set up and players.

Im sure that those people who put up that ad on craigslist or where ever you found it are nice genuine people. But me personally.. I would not trust them lol, but thats just me.. I would get crazy thoughts running through my head like are these people gonna try to kill me? Did they poison the food or drinks? IDK thats just me maybe im just crazy.

I would much rather go to a casino where they have security and no one is going to try to kill me or poison my food :]

Besides who knows maybe if you go to the casino you can make friends and maybe they know of smaller games that you can play at.

are they going to poison me? is this deck rigged? are there cameras in here? everyone knows what everyone else has and the jokes on me? is that a dealer or a magician? why is my water so blurry?

no no, heres a good one; why are they laying plastic wrap on the entire living room floor behing my chair? and whats with those guys sharpening thoses butcher knives in the corner?

Big risk going without knowing some of the players. Go to home games with buddies of friends of friends-not blind.
