I love hosting home tournaments and encouraging new players to play. I do this by ensuring no one looses much but also no one gains much.

The rules are standard no limit hold 'em tourney with a $20 buy in and one rebuy. The pay of structure follows this format:

With 10 buy ins the pay out goes to the top 5 players: 1=$70, 2=$50, 3=$35, 4=$25, 5=$20

thoughts?

If I knew you, I'd be playing in this game.

I don't really like the rebuy though.

Inviting New players to home tourney

I like to host tourneys where new folks can come and play. The way I host is 20 buy in with one re-buy allowed. If 10 people play with no rebuys then the top 5 get payed. based on number of rebuys / players the top 10 might get paid. This ensure no one really looses or wins much, but makes it a fun night. Most anyone can win is $70, most anyone can loose is $40. But if 10 play and all rebuy, most anyone can loose is $20. The payout structure is below.

Buys 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th

I supply the beer and the wife supplies the food :)

Rebuys are optional

Oh, and the beer is usually a miz of home brew (English Nut Brown Ale), generic American Pilsner (usually Miller lite & Bud lite), Corona and DOS Equis (for our Latino Friends), Sam Adams, and usually some type of export to be determined when I visit the store. I also like Shocktop and BlueMoon every now and then

I get the rebuys, but we usually have the binds go up rather quickly to end the game sooner. This way players aren't getting bored waiting for the game to end. We keep the buyins small and can usually get 3 games in for the night.

That is a neat idea to have multiple games. We also make the blinds go up quicker, but never thought about having multiple tourneys in one night.. Kind of a cool idea

I play in one somewhat similar ($10 buy in) except we allow unlimited rebuys for first 4 levels and then do an add on. Usually we pay top 3 spots- 50%, 30%, 20%.
