Ok this is the 2nd hand of a MTT. I am dealt 66 in BB, with three limpers. The flop is 6c,9c,10s I lead out and bet, get raised and reraised. In this position would you come over the top or call? I didnt think anyone had a higher set because at the low limit people tend to push hard preflop with middle PPs.

I ended up calling, and the 3s comes on the turn. I lead out with a bet, get called by one player, then get reraised for half my stack by another. I think the smooth caller may have a flush draw, but the raiser may have A10 or K10, something along those lines. So i am faced whether to fold, call, or all in.

I end up pushing all in to maybe push out a flush draw and think my set is good at the moment. I get called by both players. The smooth caller ended up having 78, the nuts, and the other guy had K10 and was drawing dead. I didnt fill up and i was out. So what could i have done to avoid this early exit?

Nothing you can do really, it's a cooler and will happen. I probably just raise and get it in on the flop though.

hmm that was a scary board texture to bet out on. I would have raised a decent amount preflop to chase away the limpers. Chances are the 78 limper probably would have folded to a large raise.

Making a large raise early in a tournament from the BB with a small pair probably isn't a good idea. I'm assuming this is a lower buy in tournament as well so I wouldn't even be surprised if someone with 78 would limp call. Checking seems like the way to go.

Also I think betting out is probably good too because bad players will call with any straight draw or pair and he doesn't want to give them a chance for a free card if it checks around.

I dont think calling is the correct idea. You could have folks on FD or open ended plus FD. Maybe even top pair A kicker. I would have pushed and hoped for the board to pair.

Sometimes I get leary when I get a set,and there is a straight on the board.
People tend to like to call with such cards as 7/8 to see a flop.
"you can thank dwan and zigmund for that".lol j/k.
Also the flush draw out there was scary as well.
Just think I would let them bet me off the pot for now, till I had more information abou tthere playing style.

Over the top on the flop on this one... there are too many potentional cards that could have you on the rail come turn and river.
Make them pay for the gamble if they are going for it. IMO

On this one I probably go all-in after the flop. Good chance of being called and beat, but leastways you make them pay for the chance to see more cards! Hey, it's poker, got to play and hope for a little luck.

i read before i believe its from "professional no-limit hold'em vol.1". don't ask yourself "am i ahead of his range?" but "what range of hands would be willing to get all in here? and am i ahead of that range?" i really think here that although a higher set is unlikely a made straight is really likely given the action. IMO i flush draw or draw would be more likely to raise all in. so after the flop betting i think you could try to slow down and hope for a paired board.

You got a bad beat. I wouldn't ever consider throwing away a set. IMO you did the right thing.
