I'm currently 18 living in Singapore. The Singapore's government banned online gambling (which included Hold'em) about a year ago.

I have only played Hold'em on social games, so I haven't play for real money. I want to "test the water" for real money but I don't know where to start. I think my only option is to travel to other countries such as Macau to play live Hold'em in casinos.

I really want to play Hold'em professionally if I have what it takes. The problem is, it will take a long time to show a result. Does that mean I have to migrate if I want to take this seriously?

If migrating is the only option, is Macau a good place to start? I'm a ethnic Chinese, so I thought Macau is a good place to start.

There's probably have ''underground" poker you just need find where and try there. Or make some home game session just find someone who want to play on real money.
Good luck with that. :)

I should have mentioned that that's not an option for me. Almost everyone don't play Hold'em here.

Than take a nice trip to somewhere where poker is legal.
That's only what I can suggest. ..

Dont even try to play in any pokersites from singapore. the fine is big and can be jail sentence. so if you realy like to play then you have to move abroad. phillipines , thailand are cheap and better option. gl

Given you're only 18 and you've never even played the game for real money, I'd say your best option is to give up the dream and do something else with your life.

If the penalties for breaking the law are as harsh as described above then you don't want to take that risk and there's simply no way it makes sense to move to another country to play professionally when you don't even know if you're a winning player or not.

Sorry to be a downer, but that's the reality.
