My suggestion:1.Google "top poker books".2.Go to Amazon search the best selling poker books.I have tried that before, and that's useful.

So you want suggestions for 'tournament' (nlhe) books?

If so,
Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time vol. 1 & vol.2

Raiser's Edge

(these 3books are the best by far, especially if you've already read HOH stuff)

The most entertaning book in my opinion is Gus Hansens "Every Hand Revealed" and you can learn a lot poker stuff too, but its more for live poker. Its not nerdy, its not boring ! He audio recorded almost all his hands from his 2007 Aussie Millins victory (Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke was 2nd place !) and wrote a very good book about it.

I started reading the same book Daniel72 recommended and I'm enjoying it. What I enjoy about it is that its different in many ways to conventional books. Yeah you can read some theory then try to apply it in a game, but a very important factor is the manner in which someone thinks on the spot. Poker players are human and many people would probably be surprised with the simplicity of what is going on in one of these pros head. I think a lot of what makes a poker player profitable is his consistency in doing these simple calculations/logical conclusions.

There are many good ones. This has been mentioned already, but if you play tournaments and/or SNG's you really should read Kill Them All. If you really want to learn I'd recommend reading every poker book you can get your hands on. Also, don't just blindly follow any poker author's advice. Think through what they say and apply concepts to your game that you fully understand and that make sense for the particular game you find yourself in.

Thank you. That was a good answer. I'm absorbing a lot of information with some new books that had not read and I'm able to manage what I learn in my game.

And so this helping me a lot!

Unless you are blessed with photographic memory, you should probably re-read the books you have. I am currently on my 4th or 5th reading of the HoH books, and it is amazing what I am getting out of them now. It's almost like I never read them before.

If you are blessed with photographic memory, the library is where you need to be.

Ive only read two poker books so far

Crushing the microstakes by blackrain
And poker mindset (dont remember author)

I recommend both of them...although poker mindset had loads of great content....it was pretty repetitive...felt like I was being hypnotized/programmed

I guess thats how you know its working...lol

I have heard lots of good things about "every hand revealed" so thats what im going to read next...its always better when its free...

@dj11 what is HoH books??

HoH = Harrington on Holdem. His Tourney Series (3 books, 2 essential), are must read. Many will say they are outdated now, but for a good solid approach to MTT's, they set the standard.

They are set up in small lessons, making them the best read for can-time reading.

I've recently picked up Phil Gordon's Little Green Book. It seems like it will be a quicker read, being that there isn't that much content on each page, but what content is on the pages has helped my game since I've began reading it. I've learned a few things regarding poker from this book. Just as a heads up though, it focuses on No Limit Hold Em. I'm actually kind of surprised this book hasn't been mentioned on this thread yet.

Since the OP has read the Harrington books (your next step, BTW) he will probably find Gordon a bit remedial.

You have to read the Doyle books. Why? Just about everyone has! So, if you do not know what is in there, you will not know what they might be practicing from it! Plus, it's called the "poker bible" for a reason.
