well tbh the commentator did say that he kid only raised twice including that time so I can see why he made the descision he made, but short stacked I think you just have too

I think it was smart, and it shows how good he really is.

When you come to think about it, he probably does not know that kid so well, he had been having tough read, and by the way the commentator put him, hes extremly tight.

Hellmuth was short stack, in a really good position but still short stacked, if he called, it was an all-in, not the less, and that would have been his odds, but still odds of not only losing, but getting out the tournament.

I think he figured, he wanted to win pots in a situation where hes strong and the other is weak, not when they are both strong, because it becomes a coin toss.

+ theres only two hands that beat QQ, but AK is a coin toss, KK and AA, QQ is beaten, and he raised for the 2nd time in the tourney. He couldve had A J , but thats still relativly strong odds, for the position the kid was in.

I think its one of the brilliant folds. Too bad we dint get a rabbit.

I dont think it was a bad move !!! Thats also a thing that makes him to one of the best players in the worl .. (the instinct) He didnt loose any in this hand and wasnt in risk to get out of the tournament

Lol at people that think folding QQ there is a good move. Confirms what everyone in poker already knows, Hellmuth=fish.

There are times when foling QQ pre-flop is the right move, but in this case, short stacke as he was, well I think it was an insta-shove.

I do think calling Helmuth a fish (he DOES have 11 bracelets) is a little silly.

i think i saw that the amateur he was up against was playing against was tight and won some recent pots,as phil was short stacked i think phil thought he only had two choices allin or fold the raise wasnt that big he could of just called.cant remember if the amateur had either AQ or AJ. but phil still came back.

I don t think Helmuth is that great of a player sorry he just doesnt impress me with his whiney crybaby play ..so he made 1 good or bad fold either way you want to look at it was just luck...

So, do you not think he's a good poker player, or do you not like his attitude?

either way you want to look at it was just luck...

Where is the luck...

I had to think about Phil the other day, I was in a tournament, early stages.

One opponent raises, I reraise with QQ, he shoves and I call, he turns over AKs and hits.

So folding QQ can be good, but not when you're sort SS and Phil knows this too but Phil likes to make a big laydown, especially when there's a camera nearby.:D

If I was really that worried I probably would have just called. The blinds were 300/600. I might shove but folding is definitely not an option in my opinion.

it was a skilled fold imo. and besides, Phil is a winning poker player, if not the best nlhe player.

his attitude has no effect on his ability to play poker, so I don't see why people give him crap for it.

It was a skilled fold? Am I missing something here Lol. How is it a skilled fold to fold QQ when your the short stack in a winner take all event. As for calling Hellmuth the best NLHE player, that is the biggest joke ever.

Hellmuth is good at beating fish and amateurs, see wsop events. You put him in a game with top pros, or even just average ones and he will get owned.

Phil has done a great job marketing himself and he deserves credit for that. He's a genius at selling products and his brand and he's made a TON of money because of it. The folding QQ's probably was done to try to help market himself, because people would think how awesome it would be that Phil folded QQ's or whatever. But calling Phil the best NLHE player is way off base as he really isn't even close. I honestly beleive that most online mid-stakes regulars would have an edge over Phil in a cash game.

I watched Phil on Poker After Dark take down an entire table of top pros, IN ONE EPISODE. Maybe it wasn't PAD, but one of them shows.

It was masterful. He just sat there and played his game with his hands over his mouth like he does. Suddenly, in the middle of a hand, he threw the whole timbre of the game off with some BS insurance side bet on the hand. He took down that hand and then went on to just devastate the table after that.

He took the last two out in one hand.

Yeah, he whines. And I hate it. But, oddly enough, I usually agree with his complaint. Just not the delivery.

But, no doubt, he can sit at any table. :icon_sant
