Each person has his own individual characteristics of the organism. I know for sure that healthy eating and playing sports will not hurt.

Grinding is pretty much a job. Some people work part time, some full time, some work overtime. It is case dependent. Playing poker is not putting your body through physical stress, but abusing the hours above a certain point will lead to exhaustion. Everything should be done in moderation, and playing poker is no exception.

About 2.5 months ago, I began a workout routine and diet. I am/was overweight. I play poker full time. The working out, and diet has seemed to help my mental game. I have always had mental game issues, and I work on them as much as I can.

For me, I can grind (live poker) about 6 hours on A-game. After that, I really have to watch myself.

The challenge for me is staying in the zone. I am playing live 1/2 and 2/5. The players are all bad for the most part. Strategy is helpful, but the mental aspect I find is the most important. If I play too much, I get burned out, and play worse. Quality hours at the table are what matter the most. There's no point in playing if you aren't playing well.

So yeah, I need 2 days off per week. I don't think about poker that much when I'm off. I need to get away.

I would think each person differs. Only do what you are capable of, and strive to increase quality hours always. The end goal is to be a effin machine and play in the zone more.

I like to play poker and I think that it isn't unhealthy for me. And about hours which I spend in game depends of my mood. I would say that 5-6 hours per a day is enough.

Proper nutrition, healthy sleep, exercise several times a week, daily walk is a must to always be in good shape for the game :) playing 2-3 hours a day is enough for cash games :), tournaments of course to delay for longer :)

Especially, a healthy lifestyle is important if you intend to practice poker professionally, and not for entertainment on weekends.

For me playing was all about keeping a balance. Staying healthy, eating well, recovering, exercise, mental well being. If you are out of sync it will catch up with you.

Just from a health point of view you have to understand a huge difference between playing live and online. Chips in the casino are physically dirty, and full of germs and things that will make you sick. When playing live, don't rub your eyes, dig in your ear or touch your nose. Chances are you will get flu or a cold.

Last thing before leaving the casino .... WASH your hands and scrub like a doctor going into surgery.

Don't touch the escalator rails (also filthy) afterwards. If you can, touch nothing, not even a door handle.

Don't bring the germs into your car or house, and stay much healthier.

What exactly do you need some 'buff body' for? How about a ripped one? If you get rich enough you can hire bodyguards who work out day and night and then come the rest of the day and night ready to die for you.

Money is worth more than muscle.

Yeah dude. I'm definitely on board with the hand washing. Chips are so nasty.

I have seen many poker players come right out of the crapper, and go right to the table, and they don't even wash their hands. Gross.
