I discussed in a previous thread my thoughts about heads up sngs and if they are profitable. I did some research and thought the best way to test this was to do an experiment. I am going to be playing 100 heads up SNGs and tracking my earnings/losses to see how I do.

Here are my rules:

1) Only pot limit omaha heads up will be played. (site of choice: pokerstars)

2) I will track my results independently for my 100 matches.

3) Since 100 buy-ins will be risked I am playing at a very low stake. ($2 + .20)

4) I will try to play an average of 5 matches a day, so this is a 20 day test.

I encourage others to participate in this challenge. It would be really fun if we can see who comes out with the best record after 100. Updates will come periodically.

P.S. The $2 heads up sngs have a higher rake % than the $5 HU SNGS, but I am still more confident only playing at the $2 level, since this is my first attempt.

After day one:
4 matches played
4 wins - 0 losses
Total profit: $7.20

Keep us posted on how it's going. I might try something like that sometime myself. It sounds like it would be alot of fun.

So my day 2 so far has been terrible compared to day 1. I played 8 matches today and went 3 wins - 5 losses. Not much to really discuss about the matches except I found the matches I did lose were against opponents who basically never folded. I need to adjust my game a little bit and hit the felt later today or tomorrow.

Today
3 wins - 5 losses
Profit: (-$5.60)

Total (12 matches)
7 wins - 5 losses
Profit: $1.60

I usually play on full tilt, so when I saw this challenge I had a look at the heads up tables there. I notice that the price of a heads up tournament in Full tilt is only $2 + 0.15. Just thought i would mention it as it would obviously have made a $5 difference to your profit (or less on your losses) over the 100 games. Might not seem like much, but I would assume that $5 will be fairly significant at the end of the tournament.

I'm very interested in seeing these results! I've played some of the HUSNG's and wasn't able to beat the rake after about 30 or so games at the low limits. The rake at the micro buyin's catch up to you pretty quick! definately need to have a winning % over 50 just to break even with the rake! Good Luck to you! I'll be checking up on this frequently!

Started today off rough at 1 win - 4 losses but came back in my later session today for 6 wins - 2 losses, so....

Today
7 wins - 6 losses
Profit: -($0.60)

Total (30 matches)
18 wins - 12 losses
Profit: $6.00

So I am 1/3 of the way through and so far, it is rough! I really thought I would have more wins under my belt after 30 matches. I am on pace to win 60 out of 100, but we shall see!

i wish you luck on your challenge

When i have an adequete bankroll I will definitely play some heads up I think its a great fun way to improve your game. I also think its very smart of you sticking to levels you are comfortable in good luck again.

I used to feel invincible heads up (even after a loss or two) but never tracked it so closely. Thanks for the experiment, I'm waiting to see how it turns out to decide if i want to replicate it. :joyman:

wow!! you have a pretty good streak going!! I'd say if you keep that up you'll beat rake and show I nice little profit! I don't feel like doing all the math but are you at exactly $11? or are you just rounding the number off?

Wow doing really great so far,. Keep it up and good luck.

I am one of those people who will rarely fold heads up unless of course a horrible hand like 72 or something like that. I will only play it if i can check, I know thats a hold'em hand but i was just saying.

I have played HUSNGs at low stakes for a while. I have been very profitable in playing 2-10 dollar holdem heads up. You will take some bad beats but eventually if you keep pushing with good hands at low stakes you will be paid off and win. Heads up at micro stakes like this is all about finding your opponent's betting pattern, and making him think that you have a pattern (and exploit it).

Slacking!

That's what I have been doing.

Once Pokerstars fixes this little problem they have, I can get back to playing.

I did get one match in this morning. It lasted 2 1/2 min and I won. I flopped a boat and villain was betting into me with AAxx. Thank you for not 2 outing me this time! :)

Today
1 win - 0 losses
Profit: $1.80

Total (36 matches)
23 wins - 13 losses
Profit: $12.80

Edit: I am 7 wins - 1 loss in my last 8 matches!
