Do you ever take a break from poker?

By a break I mean, maybe 2 - 3 weeks or more?

It may sound like a daft question but, I'm just wondering what are the reasons and the results of doing it?

Thanx:rolleyes:

yes, usually for about a week at a time. I find I do it when I am making too many constant bad decisions and I know better. The results are fabulous cuz I dont loose any money.

Usually if i lose like 2 buyins in a row on something ridiculous i'll get really pissed and swear it off forever. Then like a hour later i'll get back on, usually i win it back though.

There are times when there are things more important than poker. When my second child was born, I simply couldn't focus on much else. My playing suffered greatly. I wound up taking several weeks off to concentrate on my growing family. When I started playing again, I had renewed vigor and found great success.

Ya, 'cause playing against players who aren't very good isn't profitable

I usually don't quit playing altogether, but will pull way back and maybe only play a few freerolls per week because I realize I'm giving poker way too much of my attention. The break is healthy!

I played Poker last year from March to June, then took a break until this February. March to May I was on a huge (lucky) heater, and then in June I started losing a lot of the money I had made. I cashed out while I was still up a few hundred bucks. This February I decided to read up a lot more on poker and watch a lot more videos, and I honestly think I'm a lot better at poker this time around. I realized that last year when I played I made a lot of stupid mistakes, and my play was not very good. I also didn't practice BRM last year...which is something I am definitely doing now.

The break definitely helped me as a poker player, and during that time I graduated college so I definitely grew up in different ways as well.

I take breaks when my play is faltering but not sure how long I stay away. A week and change I guess. I still read about it and keep it on the burner.. just on low. It definitely helps get me back on track.
