Have you played other card games before playing poker?

I was talking with friends a few weeks ago about how we came to like playing poker. I realised I was playing many different card games growing up and it felt natural to try playing poker amongst other games.

By instance, I have played Scopa a lot with my grandmother when she was babyisitting me.

Not quite hold'em poker like but it does have some similarities with it. There are cards in the middle accessible to all players and you need to know what cards have passed and what probabilities are left to make "series of points".

Have you played other card games and did it helped you improve your poker game?

Yes, I played card games before poker, like solitaire, poker, there’s a fool, there’s still a thousand, I’ve called poker from all the games and I still play it.

I was playing card games; King, 1000 Seca, which is similar to poker.

Come to think of it, nope.

I first got wind of poker about 15 years ago when I used to trade items for my Diablo 2 characters on another forum. The currency was called Forum Gold and one of the ways to earn it beyond trading was to win poker tourneys on pokerstars (play money).

Then the mathematics pulled me in.

Then the philosophies.

I've learned more about life from sitting still at a poker table than anywhere else.

It's really cool when I think about it.

I did not play. I don’t even know other card games.

I played a few.

At home we allways played Canasta(uses Pokercarddecks (2times) and 8 Jokers).
Later i played a bit of Magic THe Gathering.
Also did play Hearthstone for a while, and even a bit of Pokemon Trading Card Game.

Yes, I have played many other card games, about 8-10, but I can say for sure that poker is one of the best.

Yea I've played a lot of other games than poker like bellot, uno, raub, tables, sevens, remy... I love to play with real cards

I played magic the gathering for quite a few years, probably 10 years. And also a lot
of cribbage and Kaiser

I know play a lot of card games but none like poker. When I saw the wsop broadcast a few years ago, my interest in card games made me want to learn and since then I haven't stopped playing it has become my favorite.

I played a lot of rummy growing up, it is very popular in my country, and I would say I was pretty good at it. I also thought my friends poker rules, they had never heard of it before I told them about it.

I started playing poker a year ago. Before that, I did not play cards at all.

Use to play euchre and poker at the same time online. Sometimes the poker tournaments would run later than expected and euchre leagues were running. Not the best situation but it is what it is.

Hello, I played a card game called, con quien, in this game all the cards in the deck are used, and I think this game is more skill than luck, it would be incredible that pokerstars, include this game.

Pokemon lol and some marvel card game they use to have. It was actually fun as hell lol

Blackjack but just for fun

Played quite a few: War, Go Fish, Crazy 8s, Gin Rummy, Old Maid, Cribbage, Hearts are the ones I can recall. I always loved the feel of cards in my hand, and sometimes I would just shuffle them over and over to enjoy the feel and the sound. If I had grown up in Nevada I am positive that I would have ended up working in a casino.
