Thats how poker appeared in my life,an poker club was hiring and training poker dealers. For me it was really hard at the beginning because i didnt know too many things about poker and i think is more easier to be dealer if you are a poker player.

In this thread i want to know about you guys, have you ever tried be dealer at a table? how was it,how did you feel?

I always hated to be the dealer in home games. It's hard to not mess things up so I prefer somebody else doing it for me.

I don't mind being the dealer if I don't have to play as well. Much prefer playing over just dealing.

poker dealer right here. I enjoy it - though I work for a company that does private games / functions, not a normal casino, so the expectations on my work are different vs a casino dealer (they have to calculate rake and generally deal with tougher punters, while I'm expected to be more entertaining, and often need to teach people how to play from scratch).

Mechanically once you've had a bit of practice, physically dealing the cards becomes second nature. I wind up dealing a lot of the home games I play in and don't even think twice about it.

The one thing I will say is that you don't necessarily need to be a poker player to deal the game - you just need to be willing to learn the skills. Probably the best poker dealer I've ever met never played the game. And on the flipside I've met plenty of regular poker players who are terrible dealers.

Love it. Dealing and flooring is my life. Many schools will tell you that you dont need to know the game but it does help a lot. There are lots of good dealers who didnt but they are very bright people to begin with and the ones I know were also pit dealers.. If you have learning issues or have never dealt any games before then perhaps you should learn the game first.
