Yup. I've gone broke. I planned to quit poker until my roommate revived my online poker career by going on a hot streak, winning $500, giving me half of it, which made up all of my losses + $50. I lost that $50 and decided to quit. But then I fooled around with full tilt points, turned out that i can revive my bankroll using points, eventually did, never went broke ever since until Black Friday, where my $800 is locked up and jacked, leaving me with $0. Therefore, broke again. So yes, I went broke 3 times.

I've gone broke on several sites but each time I only deposited a small amount and the whole point was to learn the game and practice on the understanding that I would probably lose my deposit. So I've gone broke in the sense that my deposit went and I didn't reload. After a lot of practice, I then deposited a larger amount on a website with the aim/hope that I would never have to redeposit and nearly two years later I've stuck to that. I suppose it depends what you mean by 'broke'. I've read many times that you shouldn't play with money you can't afford to lose - I've certainly never done that.

My last 3 deposit I have gone broke so I've been taking a break. My last deposit was almost 2 months again and I just starting playing freeroll and cc freeroll. I'm having a real itch to deposit again.

I've gone broke like 5 or 6 times, but I've never deposited more than 30 bucks and I've been playing with freeroll cash since black friday.

I'm broke again now though. Sad face.

the hard way

I learned the hard way. I play no deposit poker and use chris fergusons brm. If you go broke no better way to learn than to build up a roll the hard way. Depositing is a bad players bailout sometimes. How would you play if depositing wasnt an option? try it

you should never play with money you cant afford to lose, playing with money youve won in a freeroll gives me most satisfaction

Yep, got down to Zip, then freerolled out of there to get moving. Ended up with $190.

I go broke all the time but I always manage to freeroll more $. It really depends on your risk tolerance and patience. If I win $50, I'll find a tournament with a $50 buy-in, or sit at a ring game with $50. If I lose it, I'll just win more $ in another FR. Btw, I'm not recommending you do this :).

Sure, you can follow proper BRM and might end the year with $5k, maybe 20k. If that makes you happy, go for it. Or you can attempt the XWINK and isildur1 "get rich or die trying" method. Personally, I like the last method but that's just me.

yes.

I sucked (still do to an extent) that I went on tilt and started playing 10 dollar head ups tournaments. (went broke real quick)

Funny thing is, I did hold my own for a while. Learned some head up strategy. Today I feel heads up actually gives me the best edge in poker.

then full tilt went down and I lost my entire bankroll again. This time it wasn't my fault.

Now I have no money online.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Nope. I've just started and made a first €20 deposit. Been learning with it since May 1st. If I ever go broke with this initial deposit I'll accept it's part of the learning process but I find it very hard to accept that a loosing streak makes anyone go broke.

I can accept that a loosing streak + still being a fish can make me go broke, but a loosing streak alone should not.

If you mean lose my poker money than yes. But, if you mean losing my "real" money, than no. I never deposited to play poker online, I only play with money that I win on freerolls. I think that this way I don't have that much pressure to win when I play the cash games.

Yes, me too! I feel so much better when I cash out some money that I didn't had to invest anything to win! :)

Also winning a freeroll gives you some incentive to play well with your hard earned money. I think theres more pride intertwined with a freeroll- winnings-bankroll

I have only ever deposited one time and that was $40 on Full Tilt. I have busted myself numerous times but like others have said, this is mostly practice for me. If I get to the point where I am confident enough to play "real" poker then I will either deposit or hopefully have built enough of a bankroll to play larger stakes.
