Do a search and you will find many threads on the subject. But yeah, HOH 1 and 2 are must reads IMHO. As far as the third book it's just a workbook and I never bought it. Don't stop after you read first one or you really only read half the book.

Best book for beginner. I read it, but didn't pick up the concept until a few months later. At first I thought the book was just so and so, but the lessen learn from it really paid off. Great, quality book especially when playing tournament. Simple, but amazing strategy that u will always used.

I haven't bought it yet but if you do get it and it does seem to help, can you possibly let me know how much it helped and if it is worth getting? Thank you

The HOH tournament series is no doubt the most read NLHE Tournament books of all time.
I would also agree that they are "MUST" reads for anyone getting started in NLHE MTT play (& for others who just haven't read a book yet).

I'd suggest trying to pick it up from your local library. If they don't carry it they might get it for you via an inter-library book loan.
(yes I've read it... probably 4 or 5x... both Vol1 & 2.. and yah.. don't bother with Vol.3, I didn't think it was worth going thru to be honest (< but did so twice anyways, lol)).
Another book you might want to check out is Phil Gordon's Little GreenBook (again though, try to get it from a library).

It was the first poker book I read and boy did it help me! If you're a beginner and are interested mainly in tournaments, don't think twice. If you're not a beginner, read it anyway because most players use the strategy in the book and you definitely want to know how they play and what their leaks are.

I agree. If you havent read these you are playing blind. Also H on cash games and online cash games. I have a ton of books and H has sorted through all the mess in a very learnable, readable way.

I'm reading it right now and would agree with all the comments made here. What s very good about it is the number of practical examples he uses to illustrate the basic concepts. Very readable and all explained in a logical but simple manner.
