Has anyone here read Gus Hansen's "Every Hand Revealed"? If so, is it worth buying?

I really like his style and i just want to know if he explains his ideas and moves clearly. Thanks :D

I haven't read all of it yet, but I have read through a big portion of it.

It is definitely a good purchase if you are looking to improve your game. Even for players that don't follow his style, like me, there is still a lot to learn from reading it. He explains his moves in considerable depth. As far as I know, this is one of the best hand analysis books out there - it's pretty cool to look into the thought process of a pro.

I read it. Overall I like it, he explains why he made certain moves and gives some insight to his state of mind at various points

I'm a huge fan of reading poker books & when Gus' book first came out it wasn't long before I purchased it (I probably had over 25books already in my collection at that point & had easily read twice that many). I was really looking forward to reading it!

I was HUGELY disappointed by the book.

I would never recommend it to anyone.

Most of my poker books have been read at least twice (some of them 4 & 5x). I would never read this one again. Right now it is buried somewhere down in my basement... not even sure if it earned a spot in a box for storage. Maybe I'll go look for it & donate it to the library (in hopes that the locals will read it and continue to play poorly in tournaments here).

Not wanting to pick on you but when I read this it makes me think "What other tournament books have you read?" (because of any books that have HandHistory analysis, I'd say this one is the absolute worst).
Also, when I read Gus' book I was hoping to gain a perspective on some deep level 'pro' thinking and this lead me to even greater disappointment with the result being more like "what??? is that it? Come on! Please... pff!"

Maybe a new updated title could be "how to be a luckbox then go on to lose $20million"

The book is pretty great, but remember reading to learn is not for everyone. Have you tried watching professional videos as well? Some people learn better from videos rather than books so give them both a try!

From what I have read on the forums and what not, it was a pretty good read with a lot of good info. It might be a bit outdated, but you can still delve into the mind of one of the great old school tourney players. I would say buy it used it's prob worth $10 or less imo...

I remember it being a somewhat entertaining read (been years since I looked at it) and if all you want is to get inside Gus's head and find out why he did specific things then it could be worth a look.

If you're looking at it as an educational resource to make your own game better though... n'yeah, I wouldn't bother. First of all it's several years old and the game has changed a bit in that time. Second, it's specific to high-stakes MTT play and chances are that's not what you're playing in.

Third, and probably most importantly, Gus's play style (for better or worse) is very specifically structured around his image as a maniac player, and the fact that everyone else at the table was aware of that image. It's not really something an ordinary player can take and directly apply online or in their local casino.

It's probably not worth it considering the fact that he's the biggest losing online player in history. He's down like 20 million online lifetime so i wouldn't spend any money on his book lol

It is worth considering how much of that $20mm was lost after the book was published. One of the criticisms of many books and training videos is that the author is clearing leaving something out (Brunson himself says that his books have cost him millions). Perhaps in the long term revealing every hand may not have been such a good idea.

Cheers!

Great read, but at that time Gus's image is what made those plays work....

I read it.

It's unique, and it offers his prospective. I would give it a read.

Wow, the reviews of the book are all over the place from people saying it's great to a waste of paper and time reading. He probably wrote it because he needed money more than anything with his tremendous online losses.

Well, he wrote that long before then.

I still hold that the book is worth reading, but less for the educational value and more for the entertainment value.

I have read and NOT recommend . He explains nothing else, nothing too technical and detailed , only superficial reviews of the hands he played in the 2007 Aussie M.
