Yeah, It was announce today that one of the greatest televise poker show is not renewing with GSN. Black Friday hits again. No pokerstars Big Game, NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship and now HSP. Not a lot of option left beside wsop.

With Poker After Dark already gone, that pretty much wipes out the poker shows,,,what a shame,,,

No big deal. This is not important to the development of poker right now.

Hardly surprising, given how reliant it had become on sponsorship from Stars.

That's too bad. I really liked that show, especially back in the day before they got rid of Gabe!

That is a bummer, not surprising though. I wasn't too in to it anyway once they got rid of Gabe, the new commentator was horrible. But hopefully all these shows make a comeback....SOON.

...you all understand that High Stakes Poker (and pretty much every other poker show on TV, with the exception of the WSOP and National Heads Up Championship) was essentially an infomercial, not a proper TV show, right?

The only way it comes back is if somebody sponsors it, fronts the production money and probably buys the TV time to boot. As long as there's no legalised online poker in the United States, there's no incentive to do that.

WPT is the only week poker program now available in my area and, while the poker action and commentary is generally good, for the most part the show is all about wpt.com and the Royal Flush Girls which gets tiring. Now if they had some Royal Flush Guys I might not get so annoyed, but that's not likely to happen. ;) :D

Not to worry Chomsky, Just a short pause to reset. Too much money for any other outcome.

They are fine though. But I wish that show would get with it.

It's always two shows, which is okay, I guess, but half of the first show is just recap. And half the time you have to wait till the next week to see the final table. WTF is with that? They're on two hours in a row, just show part 1 and 2. Not 2 and 1. :dontknow:

Norm and Gabe need to teem up, and produce a real poker show.

My cable network (cablevision) took away GSN months ago. When I called them and asked why I was told that the channel wasn't popular. So what they did was add it to a seperate package that you had to pay extra for lol. Yeah that makes sense. I already pay like $150 a month, I can do without Don Pardo and game show re-runs.
But after Black Friday I figured the writing was on the wall for that Poker Show.

So basically no more televised poker, except for the WSOP and a couple of UK TK shows... :(

Thats such BS. I used to watch it all the time when GSN was on basic cable. Now that I have digital cable, they cancelled. I quit watching Poker After Dark when they started playing Omaha.

No reason the WPT shouldn't keep on keeping on, though I admit I've got no idea who shows it or when in the States.

But basically yeah, you've got the idea.

Fox Sports South shows it here in the US. Sunday Nights at 9:00 I believe. It's only a one hour show (rather than the two it used to be) then the next week they show the final hour.

I still probably enjoy the WPT and WSOP more than any of the other shows that have come out. I still like the idea of an amateur being able to compete and win life changing money. HSP really is only for the pros and rich... but I hate to see any show go.

That's sad. High Stakes Poker was my favorite poker show, actually the only one I watch, because the others one aren't that nice.
