I felt it time I started to take poker a little more serious. I mean it should be fun, that's why I play because I love the game. If I am going to play, I may as well be the best I can possibly be.So I thought setting myself a goal, and a plan would really help.

It isn't the most adventurous goal in the world. I am currently playing at $25 NL. My aim is to become a winning player at $100 NL. It is something I feel I can achieve, which will be challenging, but without seeming so far away that I get bogged down with it. There is no time scale for this, I don't care if it takes a couple of years. My aim is to get better at poker.

I Spent a little time setting up a blog, including my goals, my plans etc etc.

You can link to it here if you are interested. Blazing_Saddlers Poker Blog

I will keep this thread updated too.

6 max. I haven't had much chance to get in to it yet. Have been unemployed for a while, got a call the other day for a few days work. Typical! I'm not complaining though! I intend to put about 500 hands in tonight, am only two tabling at the moment.

Best of luck. At least it's more reasonable and attainable than those goofy $20 ---> $2 Million challenges that pop up every week.

Thank you all. Have played a few sessions now, around 500 hands altogether. I am precisely .028 up :)

It's not about the money though, it is about getting better. I will be updating the blog probably about once a week, maybe more. Feel free to leave comments on it if you wish too.

Thanks again.

I was kind of on this path, looking to jump from 25NL to 50NL when variance kicked me in the ass. Since then I've taken a step back, refocused on school work and reignited my passion for MTTs. None of which are conducive to me reaching the goal of 50NL.

Anyways I wish you all the best Blazing Saddler.

I like MTT's too. I just don't often have 5 or 6 hours to sit and play them, I do find they get a bit tedious. You play well for 4 hours and get outdrawn and bang your gone. I know that is variance, and you get paid big when you win them.

I like the daily double ones on Full Tilt. They run the same tournament twice at the same time. It is good because it stops the boredom. I can't play cash and a tournament at the same time, it just frazzles my mind. Different game, different situations, different decisions, it just leads to bother, so these are ideal.

All I would say to you is, don't give up on what you want. Poker isn't really that important in the grand scheme of things, and there probably are more important things you wish to do with your life, so do those. However if you really want to make it ot $50 NL. Work your ass off to achieve it. It can be done.

I love this goal, Blazing Saddler. I am just really glad this isn't a $0-$10K in 2 days post.
With your attitude and outlook on poker, you should have no problem being a winning player at 100NL in no time.

GL and let us know when you move up. :)

I was actually thinking about making it $200 NL. The trouble with me is I get frustrated when things are to far in the distance. $100 NL will take some time, but I felt $200 could take forever.

So I set it at $100 NL. Hopefully if I ever make it there, I can make new goals.

Thanks for all the kind posts

Much appreciated.
