I love the game because it is fun but it’s not easy to find for my stakes level (low but looking for quality players) and I end up playing Hold 'em so often my brain is always thing Hi even though I’m in a Hi-Lo game. Takes a couple of hands to adjust, always, lol.

So much going on, going Hi, going Lo, both. A full table has over half the cards on the table if you see the river. It's hard to argue with the thinking comparable to other games but is too much thinking for most players who engage it?

I love Omaha hi/lo , and really there aren't too many chances to play it on poker stars , and they used to have freerolls to win tickets with omaha hi/lo...
I have seen it in their zoom, and some other cash games .
There soo many ways to win with it :) It is funny when someone starts betting on say a pair or 3 of a kind when you keep up with them as you know you have the lo and they can't figure out why they only get half the pot , or worse - none because you end up with both hi and lo !
I like badugi, and razz was another one that kept me interested to.

Hey Sis, please send the wiring instructions so I can send you the $50 mil US for posting in my thread, it will help off set the cost of the severe side effects that most people who come and view and never post start to incur which are - dizziness, shortness of breath, severe diarrhea, a prolapsed anus, and death most likely by suicide.

One day when we both play on the same software I'd like to play those games with you  Love Razz, played Badugi but forgot how lol.

Hey I only make disgusting threads so I entirely agree, ie. no one ever shows up to post. It is an overwhelming game on the mind. Maybe the game (hi/lo) is for intelligent bi-polar poker players? :joyman:

I've played a lot of omaha hi/lo online, ranging from .50/1 to 10/20. No matter what stakes I played there was always at least one or two players who had no understanding of how to play the game properly. Even at the 10/20 tables it was common to find at least one if not two 'not a clue' players.

I happen to like Omaha hi/lo , have won tournies with it , and with Badugi and Razz - those two wer not very popular as not many would enter the freerolls for them - and if anyone out there thinks no one doesn't know how to play Omaha hi/lo - well - there are a hey who lot more that don't know badugi or razz !

All players use exactly two cards from their four hole cards in conjunction with exactly three cards from the board to make the best five-card poker hand possible. The pot is divided between the best hand for high and the best hand for low - hence the name, Omaha Hi/Lo.
So, you use the same poker hands - only two of the cards in your hand for the 5 card hand - 3 off the table
IF you have a high hand like a flush - you get half the pot for that , and IF that flush is in small cards A- 5 or 2-6 etc , then you could win both HI and LO pots .
The software will let you know who wins what .

This is the game, which i don,t like most of all. I can play omaha sometimes, but not hi/lo for sure. Really too hard to understand how to play this game well, so better just focus yourself on another games.

I love all Omaha games, if u start to play u must first learn Omaha Hi .
Worse thing for me in Omaha Hi-Lo is when u split big pot and u have example just low and your opponent had both .
Sometimes u must to fold better hi cards because your opponent bet big with just lower cards but u never know what he had.I play usually cash 0,05 - 0,10 ,it is enough because pot in this games may be big and u may lose quick money.I prefer tournament, not much people play and u can earn some money.

I always play to scoop, it's a game of draws, know your opponents, tight or loose, set up hands to hammer on the river. Always have a backup plan. Be freerolling and be smart enough to get out of hands your opponent is freerolling half to a scoop. Represent hands in position and steal pots, especially if you have some equity both ways. Have the smarts to fold a nut low with no high in a multi-way pot. In other words when it comes to you, do the math. Continually be writing a book in your head on how certain starting hands played. Love O8 !

Very smart, and thank you for sharing your strategies and reminders like 1/4 pots on the low, lol. You know maybe this is the game that certain people can make a living on. Seeing the whole picture mathematically, and taking advantage of lesser intellects who won't or can't go the mental distance hand to hand. It's not for everyone but it has become my default live cash game. Off topic, but also a great thinking game, I played 7 card stud yesterday, a tournament, wow 5 hours+ was very trying, makes hold em look and feel like a cake walk. Finished 2nd. One hand notably I got dealt trip 9's to start and the forth card can you guess....

Omaha hi/lo is riskier than Omaha Hi.
Many times there are players betting big, reraising the pot just by chasing
the low. And that can kick you out of a high hand which isnt the story in Hi.
Different approach for each game.

It's ok, I love it!

It is definitely an interesting game and takes some getting use to -- but you have to take anything I say with a grain of salt (being new). The hardest thing for someone new to realize is that sudden large raise is much less often a bluff than in Hold'em. They think that when they have a pretty good high hand, or a pretty good low hand that by god the other guy might very well be bluffing and they won't let go. Sometimes you can get lucky, but more often you get trapped. Low hands (8 high) can often end up being split. Having a straight, can often be split. When you have high / low winners and you go for one or the other and the hand you have is either a straight or low hand - you end up winning but losing half the chips you invested. It is even more so than Hold'em a game of keeping track of your odds that last card will with regards to how many cards can give you that winning hand.... and how any card can cost you dearly on the last card. If you have a straight and someone has a pair matched up creating a set -- and you try pushing them (with or without leverage of enough punishment) that last card could pair anything on the board and your flush or your straight is history. Chasing with low odds of winning will cost you more than other games. Also be aware that going all in because you have a great hand -- can end up with lots of callers that think their half hand, or their reasonable good hand is good enough. More people, the greater chance someone will hit and you will exit very quickly (yes you might hit, but that AA23 hand also quickly cause your death if there is no low hand and you had 3 people in and one hits a straight or flush -- and if you are not dominant in chip position you could find yourself out or nearly out and unrecoverable because you hit a dry spell. The game, the odds, pretty well everything about the hand is more complex than hold'em for someone new. Look up the odds and get a sense of how good your starter hand is (total odds for winning), but remember it is only a starter hand.

If you play on pokerstars -- be aware that the shuffler is slanted... it is designed to giveth and taketh away... it is designed to encourage more action and thus increase the rake on any pot.

When you first start playing it is a lot of thinking. The thinking becomes second nature after a time. There is a lot less bluffing like the post above me stated and only good O8 players can pull off bluffs. There a some very good points in the posts above me.

O8 is my best game I much better at it than Holdem.

By accident, I signed up for a five figure payout Omaha game when I had never played Omaha before. Needless to say the sphincter factor was fairly high and I managed to learn and survive to the payout schedule. One of the things I was focused on was how the other players bet so without the strategic know-how of the game itself I had to play the players. It was a nerve wracking first introduction but I have played since, on purpose, and I still find it to be a volatile game.

I like Omaha and Omaha Hi-Lo games, I play cash games more than hold'em, but in tournaments I prefer to play Hold'em!
