I have been playing great poker lately, but FT does not seem to want me to win. I have been getting some rough suck outs lately. I know I am playing good poker. I look over all the hands that I go out on, and I really wouldn't play them any other way. I am losing some 95% hands, and can't win a flip. My bankroll is suffering due to this. Do you guys suggest I take a break even though I feel like I am on my game? I just don't see how someone could have this cold of a run...lol thanx

If you're truly playing well, and aren't tilting, then no, don't take a break.

That said, taking a break doesn't hurt either.

You've only played 9K hands in 1/2, its just variance... Your still in the profit and your graph so far doesn't look bad at all.

Sometimes the variance takes too much negative results due to bad beats before to start the benefits again.
It sucks sometimes, getting beaten by a lower pair or crappy hand against KK AA and the likes of those...

Whatever you may think about poker variance, you're seriously underestimating it.

Since you write "I look over all the hands that I go out on", i assume you play tournaments. You need to play literally thousands and thousands of those to get anywhere near your long term expectation. Either switch to cash or learn to embrace the fact you're playing a game where luck has a really big impact.

I don't really know how you play so what can I say. Only notes I actually do have on you are >>
in early levels completes SB w J6o, donkbets POT (4way flop) on J88 flop, gets called, fires 2nd barrel near POT bet, gets called (hu),.. minbets brick on rivr.. & calls big raise (umm... yup.. you lost that one.. BB had an '8')

My suggestion... find a mentor or try to get in a 'study buddy' group, watch a bunch of training vids., watch some of the better players playing at higher limits, read all you can get your hands on. << for starters

if you really think you are playing good poker than you should not take a break, but i suggest that maybe you post some hands here, so we can discuss more.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I will keep reading up on whatever I can find, and just keep identifying the leaks in my game... Like J6o :/

ha ha. Well I hope that my luck turns around soon! See you all on the felt.

Tournaments are like lottery... Variance can kill you thousands of times when you are 80%+ favorite and you may never reach a final table in MTT or you could be unbelievably lucky like those idiots who won the wsop - Jamie Gold or Jerry Yang

Elky had a really good run last year and he was eliminated AA vs KK when the other guy hit a King. Elky is one of the best tournament players, but he really needs to be lucky to win a big tournament.

That's why most poker professionals play cash games. There's no luck involved in the cash games. It's 100% skill when you are playing thousands of hands.

Sometimes it is necessary to have a rest. There is even such rule - not to play got tired, drunk ...
If you without rest play, play worse to any.
