good news....

i was at my local casino yesterday, and a player(who btw has played in 3 hands in an hour) pushes all in postflop to a board that read Ah Kh Ks. gets one caller and they turn up the cards Mr. all-in has (Kc Kd) the caller QhJh river hits the 10h.


Mr all-in goes nuts (he did have the other guy covered) takes his chips and starts walking away. when the guy to my left yells out

HEY THERE"S GOOD NEWS IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE.

i think allot of us are under the assumption that we have it worse. but when the days done you have to figure the majority of the people playing took a bad beat... TODAY, matter of factly. and it''ll get to you, no-one can play totally emotionless. but rest assured you are not the only one going through it, and not even the one going through it the worst.

so next time you catch it bad instead of tilting just remember the good news and carry on

he took it well, went to the bathroom, came back, sat down, and wrecked people cuase allot of us thought he tilted

I hate people that try to console me after a bad beat with "Hey, that's poker!" Of course, usually the person saying that is the one who beat me with the miracle river card. I much rather people say to me "That sucks" or "You played it right, you just got unlucky."

Do you know how much money this hand ended up being for? I'd probably have gone nuts too. To the "it happens to everyone" guy... that beat sure as heck doesn't, or they wouldn't have huge bad beat jackpots. How many poker players can say their flopped quads were beat by a miracle royal flush on the river? Probably not many.

Plus it, obviously, was not a good call, unless the other guy was super heavily invested before the flop. In this case the caller is either a slight, slight favorite (~52% to win) if pusher only has Ax or Kx, or he's an unbelievable underdog when the pusher has AK, KK, or AA (~4% to win), which seem to be more likely hands for a guy who's been playing tight and only played 3 hands in an hour.

I know that bad beats like this happen, hate them

But I am wondering, that I don't think have I seen anyone ask..............Didn't this casino have a Bad Beat Jackpot???? If not then why not? That hand here at the local casino in Tulsa would have been on the average about $30,000. split. Especially since it was four of kind beaten by a Royal! Did the guy that got the Royal get anything, a jacket, t-shirt, cash Bonus anything?

the royal guy got a bonus check, and his picture taken.don't know how much. the guy who lost stormed off so i don't know if he got anything.

Sounds like there was no bad beat jackpot then, or someone would have surely told him. I guess there was a royal flush bonus, which might explain why the guy called the all-in, but that's pretty steep for a 1-outer.
