I did, that was about the time that I started playing. I guess I got pulled in by the whole "poker boom". I did not take it serious until about a year later. By then I was hooked to hooked I had to stop playing because it was taking a toll on my marriage. I am just that type of person when I get interested in something I got overly obsessed and focus on that and that alone. Like now I am hooked all over again and it seems for now all I am interested in is poker and trying to improve my game.

By the time my marriage had ended Black Friday had happened and I thought that there were no options to play. I mean PS and FTP were gone and I did not even think about looking else where at the time.

And yes the games were juicy,,, Hell i though I was good at a low level of play. But I was just a little bit better then all the true donkey that never really studied then game but just tried to emulate what they saw on TV.

As far as you saying that you came too late. I dont know I think things are about to change. With all the stuff going on with poker getting legalized in the US it might be the right time. As you will have a leg up on all the weekend players that legalization might bring in. I dont know I got my fingers crossed.

I began playing Limit Holdem in 2004 on Party, and switched to NL within a year.

Check out the "free" cash games or SNGs on Stars today - that's about how people played with real money back then. :)

About late 2006 into 2007 the games became less "fishy", but still profitable.

I think that once the legal issues of online poker are resolved, the opportunities for US players will open up again.

Yes, I used to play some online...mostly donkaments and got into live cash really soon did quite well.

You could just sit there and set mine and ABC play...making sure not to be OOP TOO often and just win like probably something like 15BB/hr..

PartyPoker was like a complete joke...P* was known for tournaments only and UB, lol, was the other big cash site....had the first huge games with Prahlad, Matusow and Ivey all playing under aliases.

Prahlad Friedman was easily the top dog.

At the micro levels you play, the games were definitely softer, but it's not like they're hard now - just not as soft.

What you missed was a much more lucrative freeroll / forum scene. It was normal to see multiple tournaments per month with $500 and $1000 prize pools, with smaller field sizes - sometimes even under 100. And there were also many more forums with games, both freerolls and money addeds.
