I on the other hand have 2 pr. on the flop and lose.
I'm on tilt.
If it will make you feel better, I see play just like this in the 10/20 no-limit games on Stars. I've seen a player like H@llinggol put in a 4XBB raise with pocket aces, only to have ZappyB come over the top and raise to $340. Wow, you think, What does Zappy have that could beat aces?
The flop comes two hearts and a club, gapped in such a way that no straight is possible, and nothing particularly threatening to a pair of aces, and H@ll bets $400 and Zappy puts him all in. H@ll calls and the river brings a heart giving Zappy a jack-high flush. His hand: 29s hearts.
Yes, this hand actually happened. I'm rather early on in my poker career, and having read books by tight players like Harrington I'm not given to making such plays. But in a Stars MTT last night I saw a player do something similar and it paid off big for him. I looked the guy up on thepokerdb and he is a big tournament winner. Makes thousands of dollars a week.
Me? When I play for and hit a king-high flush, I'm always whooped by an ace-high flush. I think some poker players are just charmed.
