My 11-year-old son has expressed an interest in learning to play poker. Currently he plays on the iPod Touch and doesn't really understand card values yet. I wonder if I could set him up with a play money account on the .net site to allow him to learn against real human players. His strategy on the Touch is to fold into the money and then go all-in -- sounds familiar. I see a lot of people try to do that. Are there any age limits for play money sites?

there is a limit but the minimum is 18 years by what I read in all the poker sites. But creating an account for him so to play with fake chips, to go and learn to make money for him to play. I think I get it but if it is smaller the block account. What I think.

when I was still in high school i remembered the .net becoming a fad at one point, which quickly died. I am sure a lot of people do it. I wont say whether your son should play or not, that is for you and your son to decide. and folding to the money doesnt work, so if your son wants to figure that out the hard way, then so be it.

I would be interested to see if an 11 year old could figure out how to consistently beat the play money players in a full No Limit ring on his/her own. ;)

I know it's just play chips and all, but I just think an 11 year old should be out playing baseball or something with friends. He has his whole life to learn and play poker later on.

I personally think its up to u. I would suggest go for it. I think thats a cool way to bound with ur son. u can teach him what u know and u never know he might be able to show u something. I am curious at how he does at play money if u let him play. Keep us update on how he is doing.
