My goal is to go from 1,000 play chips to 5M at FullTilt, similar to what jamesdadeliverer attempted. I want to play 500k freerolls at FullTilt and use the cash to drum up a small bankroll there. I can't seem to place much higher then Top 100 and always seem to bubble on the cash roll.

I don't have PokerCopilot, or HEM or PT to track my bankroll for you guys (if I did I'd have just deposited and played cash games :p)

My goal is to be there by June 28th.

So here's how I've done so far.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Started with 1,000 Play Chips

Here are my ITMs for June 9th and June 10th:
  • Ring Game - 5/10 Blinds - Profit: 3,000
  • 250 Buy-In Sit N' Go - 27 Entrants - 1st Place - Profit: 2,450
  • 2,000 Buy-In Sit N' Go - 18 Entrants - 1st Place - Profit: 12,400
  • 250 Buy-In Sit N' Go - 90 Entrants - 6th Place - Profit: 1,150
  • 2,000 Buy-In Sit N' Go - 18 Entrants - 1st Place - Profit: 12,400
Total Bankroll for the day: 23,440

Will update this as bankroll grows :D

Good luck! I had 5 mil play money a couple years ago but blew it all back before I ever considered playing for real money.

Well Moon Boots, sometimes donks come in handy. If you've got enough of a stack built up you can just call them out when you've got the nuts. If not though they can definitely be a pain, especially if they won't let you see the flop without risking all your chips.

Just played another SNG. Here's the stats:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Starting bankroll: 23,440
  • 2,000 Buy-In Sit N' Go - 90 Entrants - 5th Place - Profit: 12,400
Ending bankroll: 35,840
-----------------------------------------------------------
(was kind of hoping for a little higher for some of those huge winnings up there :p)

Can't really decide which are better, bigger SNGs or smaller ones. The 18man ones are lower payouts and require higher finishes for ITM. The 90man ones are higher payouts, require realively lower finishes, but there are some donks at the final table with MASSIVE chip stacks...

What's everyone's preference when it comes to # of entrants in their SNGs?

By the way, as I'm under 65 posts I am only allowed to post 7 times a day so I need to be judicious with my updates. If I run out of posts I'll make a note of the rest of my ITMs for today and post 'em tomorrow :p

Good luck ..I don't think I'd have the patience or the time..but at least you won't be losing any money. And it'll certainly help your play if you ever decide to go real

Oh god... just went on a huge TILT.

Bad BRM today... Played two 10k SNGs, got a little tempted by the lure of high placements, but didn't cash in either.
Playing too many tables got the better of me and I lost 5k at a table. And then to boot I bubbled in a 2k SNG and lost three 250 SNGs.

so -27.75k all of a sudden and my bankroll's back to 6,090.

Tomorrow's a new day though.. learnt a couple valuable lessons today. No more then 3 tables at a time, until I can learn to cope with more. Don't play in tilt. Stick within BRM.

That's it for now. Hoping to rebound tomorrow.

Alrighty. So a little update for yall. Took a little break to clear my head and watched Inside Man. In the middle of the movie I had a little itch to play some more and take down some pots.

Here's what happened:
250 Buy-In Sit N' Go - 90 Entrants - 10th Place - Bubbled :)(!!)

Took to the 5/10 tables and ripped it up. Reeled in a donk for 6,080 in chips. Back up to 11,920 in total. Gonna start afresh tomorrow, money in a 250 SNG and then go for a 2k SNG.

So +11 for the day.

Not impossible at all... but it's a pretty long road to 5 million. I would say it's probably not wise to set a timeline like this for yourself. Always be willing to adjust to what happens. You will have bad runs, you'll probably go on tilt. It doesn't take much to beat the 5/10 tables. I played 8 at a time and played something like 11% of hands.

You should be able to beat 5/10 at at least 50BB/100. At that rate, it doesn't take long.

For just starting out, I would recommend playing Omaha Hi 5/10 bingo. There are 5/10 tables that are almost literally all in every hand. Just sort by average pot and sit down at one of these bingo tables. You may have to reload your 1000 a few times until you get lucky, but today I went from 1000 to 105,000 at one of these tables. Once you get up to about 10k from luck, it is really easy to build from there because you can cover the 1000 chip all ins and only go all in when you hit the nuts. There are often 300k stacks and multiple 100k+ stacks at a 5/10 table because people just come and dump their 1000 chips.

Good luck on your challenge.

I just don't know what it is, I don't have the patience for play money. Any time I have even played a small SNG in play money the past 8 years I have felt like I am wasting my time for nothing in return(I know, I know, high BRs in play money buy you into things...). The only times I have played with play money since early high school was a couple times when I am sitting in the airport and wanted to play a tourney, but didn't know if I would have the time to finish it before the plane took off(good thing the first time that it was play, because I ended up getting to HU and then took off.)

I just see it as, I would rather deposit $2 and go from there grinding the micros and making real profit, than wasting time at play. Although, I do think that everyone when starting at poker should start with play, otherwise they will be throwing their money away while trying to learn the basics at the real tables(although I LOVE when those players come sit next to me ;))

Just a small update for everyone... Went golfing today so didn't play a whole lot. Made 10k in ring games yesterday but blew it today in SNGs where I got called on some badly played hands and I got called and got sucked out. Didn't feel too badly though as I was technically even on the day. On the last 2k SNG however I played fantastic! Didn't rush, played my great hands, and took advantage of the donks EARLY. I'm finding that's the key really. If you play too TAG, you won't play many hands and you won't get much for the hands you play until blinds get too high and wipe you out. I played a little more LAG this time. Opening up my hand range means more chances of hitting nuts on the flop and then being able to squeeze em for chips. That way I can slow play and make profit off of my hands.

So on the final 2k SNG I played (before drowning the 10k I was up) I doubled up my unts hands and solidified a 24k chip stack putting me in 3rd out of 12 remaining with some great distance between 4th-12th. I was watching the Stanley Cup Finals and I was supposed to go to my cousin's so I had to leave and the game just folded my blinds. Ended up ITM, coming 4th in the 90 man tournament and bringin home a prize pot of 19,800 chips (nearly 18k profit).

So the banks up to 31k, but I'm finally starting to settle back into my poker groove. Planning on using the bankroll properly now, no more big 10k, 90 man SNGs until I have the chips to foot it. Going to stick to 250 or 2k SNGs until I hit 100k maybe and going to play a bunch of ring games. So not much tangible progress, but the next few days should be big.

Just an update for everyone. Played some more poker today. Manage to land 31k total profit from a 100/200 ring game NLHE. And place ITM in the following SNGs
- 6th in a 90-entrant 250 buy-in SNG -- +1150 profit
- 5th in a 90-entrant 2000 buy-in SNG -- +12400 profit

Starting bankroll for today: 31,000
Total bankroll after today: 80,228

Some advice from me about this. When you do get around 2M playchips, start playing the 100K buy in STT. I know it is bad BRM, but they are very easy to beat. Then.. don't stop at 5M. Go to around 15M, and only play the 500K thing when you are still going to have 15M. I know its raising the bar, but its the safest way to go about this.
